You can now get subscriber emoticons, chat icons and more - all for charity!

We’ve had a blast on Twitch.tv/GOGcom, showing off games and engaging in streaming marathons, multiplayer tournaments and - as of late - a podcast. It has brought quite the community together with over 27 thousand followers and 1.7 million views, so the time has come for the next step.

Many of our regular viewers have asked why we’re not a Twitch Partner yet. Starting today, we are proud members of the Twitch Partner Program, a selection of the network’s quality streaming channels! This will allow us to grow even further, reach new viewers, and help a good cause. Should you choose to subscribe, your monthly $5 can get you access to subscriber-only features:

-- Access to subscriber-only emoticons,
-- A subscriber-only icon next to your name on chat,
-- Supporting a good cause.

If we could provide this all to you free of charge, we would - but since we can’t, we’re doing the next best thing. We are using this opportunity to help a gamer-focused charity - 100% of our share of the proceeds (sans tax) will go to The AbleGamers Foundation.

“We are thrilled to begin our new partnership with GOG,” said Steve Spohn, Chief Operations Officer of AbleGamers Charity. “Our mission to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through the power of video games aligns perfectly with GOG’s desire to bring the community together through awesome games.”

It was bought by Amazon a while ago.

Does this partnership allow you to keep your videos hosted on Twitch for a longer time?

Unfortunately I don't have the time to follow the Twitch streams anymore. It has been OK with one or two streams a day, but not with the current number of streams. I only use Twitch as an archive when I look up a game now. But Twitch is not good as an archive as the streams get deleted too fast. So any way to keep the streams longer on Twitch would be appreciated.

Now you've got me hoping they're war games, just so they can become the FOG of War 2016. :)

Well that's cool. My initial thought was,"Wait, isn't GOG was doing better than ever financially? Why do they need Twitch money now?" :-P

Honestly I would have been okay with the proceeds being split amongst the StreamTeam too.

giving the money away to charity is great :)

and especially ablegamers.

thank you, gog :)
Nice streams today! : )
IMO the move seems really silly and stupid and creates two tiers of viewer when it doesn't need to.

There is a separate "Tip the Streamer" section available from our channel :)

We actually talked about it, but there are 20 streamers on our channel now, some of them stream 2 hours weekly, others - up to 12. If we would count on the amount of time invested, people would feel like they have to stream even to the burn-out. We decided to donate this money to charity as a group. :)

Of course, we - streamers - benefit from this greatly; partnership means we can finally land on the main page of Twitch and get the promotion we all always wanted to get. Today's numbers also show clearly that channels with sub button attract more people - and make more people stay.

We don't want to separate our viewers into groups, this is why every possible subscription perk is enabled for everyone, including public stream archive and quality options. Unfortunately, Twitch doesn't allow everyone to use sub emoticons and have sub badges, but these are just tiny pictures - we won't treat anyone worse because of the lack of badge.
Hello two-class society I guess

CharlesGrey: And maybe a few squirrels, too.

Piranjade: I so love the squirrel.
It's cute.
It brings discounts.
Squirrel!
That was a very nice free-form poem. : )

The things subscribing gives you are:
-- Access to subscriber-only emoticons,
-- A subscriber-only icon next to your name on chat,
-- Supporting a good cause.

All streams + chat are still open for everyone. All VODs can still be watched by everyone.
There'll be a GOGcast tonight. If you want, drop in Chat and ask your questions concerning subscriptions and partnership. :-)

Piranjade: .. ask your questions..
Thanks. I have none considering this. I was just raising concern that people in chat now see that phat "i paid for charity" icon.
