The subject says everything already.

The game also works without the Steam Client and can be downloaded through the Steam command line downloader SteamCMD.

So give it a try if you like RTS games. If you like the game it is currently 60% off here on GOG.
So, what happens after this weekend? Does the Steam client automatically uninstall the game?

How would I know? I don't have the Steam client installed and this is the first time I checked out a temporary free game.

Like Geralt_of_Rivia, I try to only do Steam games without the client. I have checked out a few games thru free weekends before wishlisting them here tho. At the end of the weekend Steam will remove it from your Library. However, they recently had a second free weekend for a game I had tried out months ago - and I noticed it not only reappeared in my Library for that weekend, but had saved my place in the game. Turns out it had not uninstalled the save file from my system, just the .exe. So you may want to check on that once you are done.

Thank-you for posting this, Geralt. I've been curious about this one. :)

You just can't play it, it'll still be there, but not unlocked. E.g. the button will no longer say 'Play' but will day 'Purchase'.
Thanks all, I will give it a try before buying it on GOG ;)

While the play button might disappear, would you still be able to run the .exe?

I never tried. Honestly, I didn't think to - I either like the game enough to wishlist/buy it on GOG or decide it's not worth it and don't want to play it again. I didn't notice the .exe still remaining on my system, just the save file (once I looked).

I'll try it and see. I think it is one of those demo type .exe which have a timer on them but we'll see.
