Adding DLC to your main toolbar search results is probably a good idea, but the relevancy of the results has much to improve.

I was looking for "dying light". There are dozens of DLC in the results, but no base game. I wanted the base game.

Suggestions:
* prioritize full game results over DLCs/extras
* prioritize "exact match" results; "dying light" = "dying light" > "dying light: another DLC"
* work something out in terms of UX to group DLC results if only the parent game's title is in the search term; show DLCs explicitly only if the query matches the name of DLC and doesn't fully match the original game's name.
Or add switch "Hide DLC/extras" to the panel.

Here's the thing, though:

- you can't buy a DLC without owning the base game (standalone DLCs as the sole exception)
- therefore, whenever you look at the store page of a DLC to a game, a message on that DLCs page will tell you that you need (base) game X to play that DLC.

That message comes with a link to the base game.

It's still a stupid problem in search of a solution.

Yeah, but does that problem exist for everyone here?

I mean, if I enter "dying (light)" into the search bar, no base game is shown to me either (attachment_1).
However: I'm in Germany, I don't have a VPN installed - and the base game is region locked for me.

Therefore, I can't reach the base game at all, even by going the little detour over the DLC page (attachment_2).

But: even if the OPs problem is the same for everyone here (is it, though. I can't check, for obvious reasons?) - people whose country isn't region locked, can simply take the DLC detour.
That's literally two mouse clicks more (the first for clicking on a DLC - the second for clicking on the base game).

Which makes this problem a non-problem (unless one is hellbent on making it a problem).

If they were consistent, they would also lock the DLCs for a locked game.

When your game cound has for digit ans doesn't start with 1, sometimes it would be useful to see a list of all non owned DLCs for all owned games.

Ah, but you forget! These DLCs also account for the nebulosity that is also editions on GOG. Which rather stupidly, have separate review pages and everything. And there is my problem.

Well, that and seeing the outrageously high price for what can only be summarized as a highway robbery of digital goods.

If you want Dying Light and most of the add-ons, it's cheaper to buy the Definitive Edition when it's on sale. Buying the Enhanced Edition and then all of the add-ons will cost more. Oops. It doesn't but the only missing ones are free, so it's not a problem.

Did all of the Dying Light owners get the Harran Military Rifle add-on yet? I put in a ticket to try and get it for everyone and GOG said they'd try but I never heard anything back. When I asked, I already had it, so I can't tell.

There certainly is some wasted time and effort involved here but I don't know that it's to the degree that GOG is going to change anything.
