I've completed world 3 - 5 of Braid and also got half the puzzle pieces in world 6. Still not a big fan of the game. It's nice that part of the mechanics change in every world. But still quite often the puzzles are not really challenging, but frustrating instead. You know what you have to do, but struggle to get a certain jump right or your timing for something else (switches etc.) is a milisecond off and because of that you fail. Sure, there's the time rewind and because of that you never lose much progress. It's still not a lot of fun though.

Also the story is weird. Still not exactly sure where it is going. First I thought it would be about alcoholism, now it might be about domestic violence. I have the impression that several bits are just included to keep it ambigious.

You're not one to drop games, are you?
You don't seem to be having a great time with Braid, but you're still forcing yourself to play it.
I'm kinda like that myself. Unless the game is truly awful, I usually play them all the way till the end.

You are right. Normally when I start a game, I try to complete it. I might quit it, if I feel completely annoyed or it has serious bugs that prevent me from finishing. And quite often I get distracted by other games, but in that case I keep the installed game and plan to finish it in the future (happened with F.E.A.R., Penumbra and Prince of Persia - Sands of Time) from former time travel threads).

Yesterday night I've completed Braid. I wouldn't say that it was a bad game, but on the other hand I also didn't like it that much. Some of the puzzles were quite clever, some others were frustrating. The "twist" was ok, but I wasn't very surprised by it. All the diary entries (and also the jigsaw puzzles) had quite a dark undertone, so I suspected that in the end you wouldn't be the shining hero.

Altlogether I would say that it was an ok game, but from today's point of view it's hard to believe that it was one of the games that started the whole "indie games hype" back then.

Nice congrats!

Are you thinking of playing something else that might be more to your liking?

If we stay in 2008 for another month, I will play Mirror's Edge.

2008 is for May and June, so you're good :)

Mirror's Edge is an interesting choice. Graphically the game still holds up very well. Gameplay wise, it can be frustrating at times, but when you get the hang of it, parkouring through the levels can be great fun.

Combat is meh, though.

But give it a shot. I'm curious about what you think of it.
Time Travel #15 - 2009 is now available: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/time_travel_15_2009

Sorry for being later than usual
Huh. What a surprise, I ended up participating in the same time travel without knowing it.

Near the beginning of the month I decided to play Braid (which I had barely touched once, about 4 years ago) and in about 10 straight days (and probably only 4 that I could pick up the controller at all) I reached the end.

So technically I wasn't within the months allotted for 2008 and didn't even think of the game's year when I picked it up but I suppose it's still part of the same trip you guys took.
