Hello!

My cousin is hosting a shindig at a banquet hall tomorrow evening. We also had a little gathering at his place today. I announced I would be popping my collar for tomorrow evening. It was a statement that met with some controversy. I also said I would be tying my neck tie around my head; like a bandana. My cousin (the one hosting the party) told me it looked good, but a few others told me to knock it off.

My opinion is it's a great fashion statement. When I pop my collar I look like I'm wearing Dracula's cape. How cool is that? Speaking of cool...large gatherings of people increase the room's temperature, and popping my collar helps me feel a little less hot. What do you think of the popped collar?

Edit: thanks for the replies ♥

I can't even think of the last time I wore a shirt that even had a collar to pop.

Also, why not wear a cloak or cape? There's a way to make a statement.
You should also wear a sabre on you while you're at it. Anyone makes fun of your popped collar? You don't have to touch the sabre, its presence is enough. Anyone make fun of your necktie bandana? Well, your sabre speaks a lot about your character. Makes people think twice. "What are they going to do with that sabre?" they may think to themselves, "best not find out".

I would like to wear a cape, but I would get kicked out of the venue. Looking good truly is a burden :*(

A sabre is a great idea. Unfortunately I don't think I can get one on such short notice.

An old plastic tube, a torch and some tape to stick them both together. The authentic buzzing sound, I'm sure you can make yourself, with a low humming noise with your mouth closed...

I'm sure you won't get many strange looks from others, but it's almost guaranteed they'll keep their distance...

Instead of the sabre, why not a much more accessible serrated cake knife or a machete? The serrated cake knife can be found at any bakery supply store, and any big box home improvement store with a gardening center is going to carry machetes.

This is the definitive argument.

For the rest, I have very little patience for people who are judgmental about clothing. I say ignore them openly.
I had to look it up...

I still don't understand what this is about. Local traditional customs?

The real question is, what do YOU think about it, and how much does the opinion of others really bother you? Don't be afraid to do your own thing, unless social acceptance is a really huge deal to you. I'm 42, I left that problem behind many years ago. I don't really care what others think of me, and that's a good thing. If you do care, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, then do smaller things to break conformity. a little bit of eye liner if that's your game, or the severed head of a conquered foe hanging in a bloodied sack at your belt. Something simple to show your personality, but not be ridiculed or seem uninviting.
I think you're an attention seeker.

Not because of the collar thing but because you felt the need to post about it on a gaming forum to try and make yourself look cool.

You're not cool. But that's ok?

This sounds like something I would have to smuggle in. If anyone asks if there's a makeshift sabre in my pants, I would say that I'm just really happy to see them. Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho!!!

That's a good idea, but I feel like a sabre would make more of an impact. XD

It's a tacky attempt to look cool. I do it mainly as a joke. It would be inappropriate for anything that isn't a party.

I wish I had this kind of out of the box thinking. I'm too insecure at the moment to carry a severed head on my belt, but it's a goal for self improvement that I'm going to work on XD.

I can't tell if you are being serious, but in case you are I made this thread as a light-hearted joke. I apologize if I didn't make that clear earlier.

When did we meet earlier?

My thought on this particular subject is best described maybe by the following picture:

If you want to make an impact, go with the item that's at the very top of my kitchen wishlist: butane torch

Some of the uses of a butane torch include:
- Crème Brûlée
- brûléed grapefruit
- toasting marshmallows
- perfectly caramelized meringues
- browning the top of mac & cheese
- making patty or tuna melts
- perfect crust on au gratin potatoes
- roasting peppers

One cooking show that I've watched in the past would add repelling home invaders to the list of butane torch uses. Also the ones sold in hardware stores are cheaper than the ones sold in kitchen supply stores.
