Marioface5: Speaking of which, it sure would be nice if we ever got more from them. I think the only WB game released since their debut was FEAR 2.
I wonder if there is a chance we'll see FEAR 3 on GOG...

Kristian: Those were supposed to be released in August...with the time left of this month, I highly doubt there will be two big events...

Marioface5: Judas said that he thinks the surprise will make a lot of people happy. I don't think a bunch of ancient RPGs that most users will have never even heard of before would do that.
There are many people here demanding the "Gold Box" games.
They're quite an interesting piece of gaming history but I don't believe most gamers under the age of 20 would have the patience to play them.

Eye of the Beholder was the first game I bought for PC. Quite a beauty in its time. But, to be honest, even if they brought the "Beholder trilogy" here I wouldn't buy them/play them. I don't have the patience to draw maps nowadays.

Blessed be Paul Neurath, who introduced the wonders of automapping to me, with Ultima Underworld.

animalmother2105: Was it confirmed that tomorrow is connected with those RPGs mentioned by the brand director(?) in the video?

Fair enough.
Hopefully they will release Rocket League.
I'd bet anything it's the Gold Box games. To the guy who said nobody would be excited for that: speak for yourself. The GB series is just about as classic as it gets, and even though I own most of them on CD, I'll now have pre-tweaked backups if the CD ever fails me. And if I bought them on GOG, I wouldn't have to dig out those stupid code wheels every time I wanted to play! :P

If you're referring to me, I certainly didn't mean that nobody would be excited for them, and I thought the games being talked about were, as said in the video, "from the 70's and 80's". I just meant that if that were the case, the average user probably wouldn't care. If we're talking about the Gold Box games though (which are mostly from the early 90's if I'm not mistaken), yeah, I think that would make a lot of people happy.

Hehe, sounds very familiar, hoping for them, too although i own most of them ... alot on disks for PC or Amiga, so i dont even know if they work anymore.

Oh, okay. I was under the impression that the games mentioned by the brand director were the Gold Box ones, since that's what everyone here seems to think. And yeah, only a few of the GB games are from the 80s.

Personally I hope it ins't just the gold box stuff since that era doesn't hold much appeal for me but am still excited for whatever it is.
Someone on GAF did some sleuthing and found new developer entries for Westwood, SSI, Bethesda, Microsoft, Bandai-Namco, and Konami.

Don't wanna get ahead of ourselves, but this could be the megaton to end all megatons, whether you want old stuff or new stuff. One can dream, right?

I also found those entries not too long ago, but looking up the site on the Wayback machine just after the site overhaul in September 2014, the entries for Konami, Microsoft, and Namco Bandai all appeared in the catalog back then, along with a bunch of other entries like the companies for the removed games. Since that was nearly one year ago and none of them have had anything to show for it since, I wouldn't get my hopes up about those specific companies just yet. Maybe the plans for those fell through, maybe someone on GOG was testing game cards and just put those entries in as a lark, who knows? But Westwood Associates, the newer SSI entries, and Bethesda are definitely recent though, those appeared within the past few weeks.

From yesterday in this very thread:

SCPM: I see new companies in the catalog filter list:
Westwood Associates & Strategic Simulations Inc.
Stormfront Studios & Strategic Simulations Inc.
Bethesda Softworks (a new separate entry from the previous one)
:O
There's also new entries for Mode 7 and GTE Entertainment but I don't think it's them just yet, looks more like the Goldbox games.
And is it just me or did the number of entries in the catalog go down by one?
That way SCPM made me write my own script to find new publishers.

I really hope GOG can get the Doom series! It might happen if GOG signed up with Bethesda/Zeni! :P
