If a GOG version of a game is uploaded to torrents, it is just the installer and the files. I see no reasons not to buy it on GOG instead of pirating it.

If a Steam only game gets uploaded to torrents, I will quite often prefer the pirated version as it has a ton of added value to me. Removed DRM, very user friendly cracker made installers, portability etc. The only way I add games to my Steam library are either retail games that have to be registered or freebies.

So for me, Steam actually makes me want to pirate more. Funny how that works. It's like with movies. You buy it and you are assaulted with minutes of unskippable anti-piracy ads, warnings in 19 languages about how you can't present this movie on oil rigs and other such BS, while if I torrent the movie, I can actually just watch it and not be scolded for buying the thing.

pkk234: It's weird how the same rhetoric just kinda cycles through Steam. The same response as like years ago.
Japan also likes DRM. dunno why i wrote that i need sleep
What's funny, if you comment on a game on the steam forum, people will say why do you even care, you don't have it (no little mouse icon next to your name). If you then tell them you bought it on GOG, they'll label you a filthy pirate and tell you to get the game legit like everyone else. Some people there think GOG is somehow so public, and yet operating by stealing data and IP from people. That's part of the reason I'm so glad games like Cyberpunk and the Witcher exist, as well as other games like Horizon Zero Dawn being here. It lends a little more legitimacy to the site in the eyes of those who think it's some kind of pirate access to content. Some of them even think DRM is a great thing and won't listen to good sense when you explain how it hurts the customer.

I'll buy it on Steam and often times use the pirate uploads. I'll also usually leave a negative review stating the Game is good or ok, but the DRM is no bueno.
