To be perfectly fair, Batman is often written like Gary Sue who knows even things he should know, one villainous variant is especially guilty of this. Batman is also written like insufferable asshole just like many girlboss characters are - case in point Arkham Batman.

Back to Witcher, we also know that Ciri took trial of grasses and that someone from SBI works on the game. Considering Ciri taking a trial is idiotic for many reasons and since SBI couldn't write a good thing if their life depends on it I'll make an educated guess that new Witcher game will have many questionable things.

Of any and all potential issues, I completely don't understand the people who are angry about how Ciri looks. A video I watched on this "issue" put her image from the trailer side-by-side with her image from Witcher 3. IMO she just looks like a higher fidelity version of the same character. But some have the pitchforks out for any possible "offense" now, however trivial.

If you mean Batman Who Laughs... yeah, that's just about the nadir of horrible wiritng in modern comics for me. But for years and years Batman was written as a superbly skilled and clever but still fallible man. There's plenty of stories where either gets his ass kicked like hell or fails in some other way. Even in my favorite Batman comic ever, Perpetual Mourning by Ted McKeever, Batman himself says how wrong people who think he always triumphs are, and that what he really carries inside are all the people he failed to save. I think it's only the relatively recent, post-Flashpoint comics that completely lost track of who Batman is supposed to be as a person.

I guess that depends on how you've been playing since Witcher 1. I mean yeah, for me Geralt ending with Triss would be just insane, but if someone was romancing Triss all through the trilogy, maybe it works.

Ciri looks like a winebox aunt with botox treatment in this. Replace her with a Geralt skinsuit (if exalted grandiose brilliant Soy0ne doesn't cancel your mod outright) and you have effectively just Geralt with the archetypical girl-boss attitude we have come to "love" so much.

And I think part of that blame falls on the fact that the most popular Batman movies in recent memory were based on the absolute dung of the crop writing by Frank Miller. Batman v Superman is a complete misunderstanding, full stop. Clark & Bruce will never exactly see eye to eye, but I think they could come to the agreement that they are in together, to find justice and truth.

It seems that this thread did dive into female protagonist good/bad and the resulting -ist name-calling but from a lore perspective, there is a lot of issues with continuing the story.

1) Why is Ciri a basic witcher? Ciri has elder blood and by the end of W3, is able to take down wild hunt members with her warp spam stikes like Noctis from FFXV. Going from that to a basic witcher is a downgrade.

2) Why are Ciri's magic powers so weak? Again, Ciri has elder blood which is a genetic experiment by elf sages to create beings who would have immense magic power beyond the sages themselves. Ciri by this time should be able to perform feats of magic that put Yen and Triss to shame. Why is she using something as weak as signs in a life or death battle?

3) Why is Ciri even a witcher with the cat-like eyes? Female witchers are incredibly rare (only from the manticore school), go through the trials at 12 to 13 (Ciri is already 21 in W3 and she has to take the trials after W3 so is already too old), and are supposed to be pointless at this point in time. Monsters are dying out and the ones that are left can mostly be handled by trained armies rather than the brutal process of creating a witcher that has a 40% survival rate iirc. Do we really want to believe that someone would risk having the only known elder blood carrier (someone who is already strong enough to take down crones and wild hunt members with her magic strikes) take a trial that has a 60% chance of death or a minimal buff? Trial of grasses allows witchers to drink their potions, improve their eye sight, and increase their physicality and agility at the expense of also dulling emotion, raising sex drive, and going sterile. Ciri can already literally warp from place to place and has magic potential to put sorceresses to shame.

If Ciri was to become a witcher (which makes sense by the narrative of W3 even though a sequel itself is arguably dicey given the situation with the lack of need for witchers), why make her a basic Geralt clone but female instead of really changing up her toolkit so she is much more magic focused with a different playstyle?

I am admittedly disappointed in the direction of this game. I was hopeful Witcher IV would be a new and fresh start to the series. With Witcher 3, without spoiling anything, wrapped up the storyline for all characters rather well, and not all possible endings translate to the Witcher 4 trailer.

So why continue from Witcher 3? It ended. And did so in amazing fashion.

Why not start brand new and let the user select their character? Have the user go through the Trial of the Grrasses, have the user resurrect or recruit for Kaer Morhen, anything but playing a character, any character from Witcher 3. Why go back to what already determined, ended, and left users quite satisfied with the game?

Forcing users into a Witcher 3 character, at least to me, makes no sense.

Witcher 3 ended. I know what happened to the characters. So I do not see myself playing Witcher 4, as it currently is.

Trailers for CP2077 varied from the final release, so hopefully CDPR will make some changes, and allow users to build the character they desire, and start new, instead of looking in the rearview mirror.

I agree with the sentiment that Witcher 3 concluded Geralt & Ciri perfectly well, this game will likely be good maybe even great, I'm definitely waiting for a year to avoid bugs but it would have been far more interesting to cover an era after Witcher profession was established.
