I am sorry to have caused such a small uproar, but the release of Supreme Ruler 2020 is historical.

- GOG's catalogue now contains 955 games/DLCs.
- Of these, 11 are upcoming, leaving us with 944 games/DLCs.
- Add to these the 56 games that have been removed from GOG over the years

Which makes "Supreme Ruler 2020" the 1000th game/DLC to be released on GOG.
I didn't really expect GOG to celebrate the occasion, but an occasion it is.

And when future generations ask "Where were you on this historical day?", I'll be able to provide the same answer that I can for most days - "Sitting on my ass in front of a computer.". :)

It's our own fault for once again blowing something out of proportion (though something big would have made some sense given we got WB and Paradox the past few weeks). :P

To be honest, the first time I read mrkgnao's post I though there was a big promo comming up like Insomnia, or maybe German getting it's own forum. Then the historical thing threw me off completely. =P

Shmacky-McNuts: How is a German rating a censor? I do not know even 1 person under 18 with a credit card or paypal account. So how does this matter? Not accepting it, just really curious.
OT but in short form:

Unfortunately games in Germany are often banned or censored regardless of the required age. The problem in Germany is that the games NEED a rating otherwise nobody would sell them so companys often censor their games to get this rating. Regardless of that there is still another institution (BPjM) who can ban a game completely regardless of the rating if they come to the comclusion that this game is not good for people (they mean young people but if they banned it you cannot get it any more in Germany at all. They want to "protect" young people and to do this grown ups will have to suffer, too). It is a stupid and non functioning system (given that you can get everything on the internet this also leads to more pirated versions because it is often the only way to get a game). It's sort of funny if you remind the fact that it has never been proven that games will lead to real violence ... but they don't care.

But I believe in GOG and that they will not bend their principles. If they really wanted to prevent German people from getting access to foreign language versions (i.e. I have no mouth and I must scream is censored in the German version but you still have access to the uncensored US version) I would be very mad at them - but as I said I don't think they will do such things.

They might do so when they "officially" reach 1000. That is, when the number of games (currently: 955) becomes 1000. They did a giveaway when they reached 500, after all.

Was that before DLCs and games with multiple versions were introduced?

Yes. I still think GOG would count DLC/Multiple versions as different games. :P

Well... here they say 955 DRM-free games... and we all know what's included there. Just check out the last couple of pages...

EDIT: MaGoG says (if i'm doing this right) 889 unique games currently on GOG. And then we have the 56 removed.

They might and they most probably will.

But celebrating 1000 games/DLCs, without counting the games that carry game IDs #1, #2 and #3 (that was back in the day when GOG did not yet number their games with 10-digit numbers) is kind of sad.

P.S. I expect you can guess which three games have carried these three game IDs...
