The change was for hi-res textures, so I guess that's the reason for the huge increase in file size.

Furox: Only the installer and some GOG support files (EULA, ...), no game files were changed.
The archive is 20MB smaller also, I wonder if files were removed or if they just switched to XZ/LZMA2 type compression.

Recent GOG installers tends to be smaller. I think they just use better compression algorithm or runtime options.

By observed behavior - it seems to be a manual job to go and flag a game as updated. Either whoever is/are responsible forget/s or just can't be bothered to select that checkbox or click that button.
