Atlantico: I've used the vaping thing for more than a year, and coming from a background in molecular biology, it has to be mentioned that vaping is absurdly safe.

Anyway, I think it is better than tobacco, and for people who want to quit smoking it is a legitimate way to help them do so.

Can't recommend it enough, but be prepared to learn to maintain the vaping device, run out of battery at the worst moments, need a new coil at the worst moments, and so on.

But the benefits are worth the hassle, can't recommend it enough.

ScotchMonkey: Ive studied psychology and the mechanics of addiction in post secondary and even conducted classes in harm reduction in the area of youth gambling.

Unlike the finger waging propagandist media that the government disseminates we actually engaged and educated the audience with examples of risk vs rewards and tying it all into Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

I see vaping as an effective tool to get what you crave without harming yourself with smoking tobacco.

That being said there is still concern about the effect of aerosolized PG.
If more people on the planet would work under the rules of least harm this place would be significantly nicer.

DieRuhe: I have an e-cig but it's rather "low end." I don't know if they're all basically the same or not.

I really wanted to like it - it tastes good, no smoke, no smell... but when I inhale, it gives me a feeling in my chest I don't like - a sort of tightness that I don't experience with regular cigarettes, more akin to that feeling you get when smoking marijuana. And if I inhale the way I do with a regular cigarette, it makes me cough, which regular cigarettes don't do. I can take a really deep breath on a regular cigarette and not even feel it, but I do with the e-cig. The vapor, perhaps (and no, I'm not one of those people who think "Oh no, I'm sucking water into my lungs.")
Possibly a reaction to to the Propylene Glycol. Its the ingredient that gives you the throat hit. Some people are more sensitive to it or just simply allergic to it in its aerosolized form.

That would mean embracing scientific principles and valuing facts over feelings. I don't think I'll be holding my breath.

tinyE: How exactly are we enforcing the 18+ rule on this thread? :P
We thought you could be the bouncer so to speak.

real.geizterfahr: here was a little bastard sitting behind my chest, whispering "Suck, suck, suck, suck, suck!" whenever I was inhaling air oO But that was it. No nervousness or other signs of withdrawal...
Anger and nervousness (mostly rage tbh) were my primary emotions when I quit tobacco (went 3 1/2 years). Cold turkey as well after winding it down and staying away from things I associated with smoking for a time (booze and coffee).

The big thing that convinced me to quit was the large tobacco players putting their money in to laws banning cloves. Fuck you Phillip Morris and RJR, if I can't smoke my preferred product I am not smoking your piss poor quality adulterated trash.

We show them a photo from your last birthday party (you know, the one with the hooker inside the birthday cake nobody told you about before you started cutting it with an axe). Anyone beneath legal age will run away in terror. Well, so will most adults but better safe than sorry.

Cavenagh: I gave up smoking this new year, I tried patches, and cold turkey, but it was too much for me.

So I tried one of these e-cigs, one you put juice into, it's great I get my nicotine without all that shite going into my lungs.

I feel 1000% better now, not caughing my guts up in the morning, does anyone else vape on here.

what juices do you use, and ideas on mixing.

all the best

[edit] sorry if this thread seems like spam, it's not, just intrested if others are giving up smoking

Blu user here, as well as Vaped Vaporizors for um..."other" things. I use e-luminate juices, as well as e-Kraze. They got some nice strawberry, blueberry and watermelon juices. I tend to recycle my Blu cartomizers, because it's sooooo much cheaper to do that way!
Been vaping for almost two years, I started at a time when it wasn't so wide spread in my area (now there is a vape shop within less than a mile in any direction). I have no regrets. Started with the cig-a-likes, then about a month later moved to using (now out-dated) mods (that still works fine) and tanks. I don't mix myself, and the few that I have attempted produced some nasty flavors. I buy my juices from Heather's Heavenly Vapes.
It's over two years now since I quite smoking. It took me five years of trying before I made it. One of those attempts involved vaping.

I liked the sensation of vaping. And I got my hit. But I am a nervous type, and all the fiddling with parts and replacements drove me nuts. I couldn't take it. So, my vaping experience was less than six months in all.

I only ever used a camel flavored juice at the highest strength.
To anyone in the states, do the major tobacco companies produce their own blend of E-Juice?

Or was that article I was reading a bunch of crapola?

chadjenofsky: Well… maybe. But at least you aren't killing everyone else with second hand smoke!
No we've got cars and trucks for that :D
Not a smoker, but I have noticed that these are banned in most places just as cigarettes are.

F4LL0UT: I have for like two years and I'm trying to quit, have only been taking two or three puffs a day lately, just enough so I won't go crazy when seriously stressed out. My health greatly improved after switching from cigarettes to e-cigarettes at first but at this point I'm experiencing other symptoms which get a bit weaker but don't go fully away when I put that shit away. Frankly I'm shitscared that e-cigarettes may have done even bigger harm to my body than regular cigarettes would have in the same time and want to get myself checked out very soon. Shortness of breath, chest pains, an irregular heartbeat, you name it. Seriously, just quit smoking and vaping altogether. It can't possibly be good but it can sure as hell be dangerous. And that's not including the (admittedly small) fire risk due to malfunctioning batteries.
The liquid used in e-cigarettes is itself a completely harmless biological lipid, most commonly used by dermatologists as a topical moistureizing agent. It is edible, even.

However the symptoms you are describing are worth getting checked out, stress and cardiovascular issues are in fact a way more dangerous thing than even tobacco smoking is.

Still, I just can't imagine a way e-cigs could damage anyone, and certainly not more than regular tar based tobacco.. I mean, I'm all open to ideas, I just don't see it. The liquid can't make anything dangerous, even when heated, nicotine is nicotine, and that's about it for contents of e-cigs.

I hope you find a way to improve your health, it's the most valuable thing we have.
So when does The Fapping thread [18+] arrive? :D

but seriously what's the deal with e-cigarettes? Yeah sure you don't inhale all that shit from real smokes but nicotine itself isn't very healthy and inhaling just nicotine might make a person even more addicted. A person would get sick when trying to chainsmoke real smokes mainly because of all that other shit in that smoke, but there's nothing stopping you with e-smokes.
I mean it doesn't really seem that better, let alone healthier.
Seriously vaping? Smoking was cool back in the day, having a ridiculous glowing plastic tube sticking out of your mouth just looks like its someones kids birthday party. And several months down the line they will find out they are just as bad for you. Just quit, its not difficult. I gave up at the end of last year without anything, my dad gave up 35 years ago with no substitute and never went back. Only difficult bit is sitting down with a nice beer.
I've been vaping for around 18 months, and while I wouldn't advocate trying it to anybody that isn't already addicted to nicotine, it has worked wonders for my health and cured my COPD.

I've bought and tried a ton of gear in that time (including sub-ohming, dripping, etc) but now I just use a Nautilus on a 30w iStick, filled with some Five Pawns or Njoy Artist Collection e-liquid. Simple, effective, and delicious!
