Ah, well, I thought there would be financial or time constraints so that you would have to pick from the games you mentioned considering.
Btw, in case you don't know already; the 2nd VTM game is no sequel to the 1st in terms of story line.

I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did/do!

And as for the community... Yes , there are some pretty generous, nice & funny people around. Sometimes I spend hours going through the forums, instead of playing games - it's really annoying. :-P

Starmaker: The Long Dark (although it worries me that the game is still in dev and 50% off already). Saw some guy trying to sell Justin Trudeau on it.
Let us know if it was good decision. I was extremely interested in the game (as I'm a fan of survival theme in book, movies and games), but I heard that there is something really wrong with the game - story starts great, but you quickly realize it's incomplete and needs a lot of work to be considered full product... :/
I've only picked up both the Ultimate Editions for New Vegas and Dragon Age: Origins so far. I'm trying to be a little more mindful of the money I'm spending, but the same is making it really, really hard, aha.
Haven't picked up anything yet, but I have started playing Inquisitor recently which is a good story driven and really dark
RPG. Would like to find something similar to it, but I am not too familiar with old school RPGs, so I'm not sure what to get. Any recommendation?

Check Serpent in the Staglands perhaps.
SimCity 3000 Unlimited, glad to have my childhood game back DRM free.

Do you mean similar as in "really dark"? Or in terms of gameplay (combat etc.)? For example, I believe in Inquisitor you only play one character and the combat is similar to action RPGs like Diablo, only much slower? Is that what you're looking for, or are you also okay with RPGs in which you (eventually) control a whole party of 3-6 character, or which are turn-based or at least a little more tactical than just clicking on monsters and drinking potions? What do you like about Inquisitor, and what don't you like that much in this or other games? Which RPGs have you played? Give us a little more to work with. :)

Yeah, that one is really interesting. Gave it a try some months ago and it really fits the bill. On the other hand, it really needs your attention, not even providing with a short summary of active quests, etc. I put it aside, but would like to revisit it some time later.

Oh, sorry, I guess I was too vague by saying simply similar and not much else. :) I'm looking for something that has similar atmosphere to the one in Inquisitor. Dark, gritty and mysterious with extensive dialogues trees , so I am not just interacting with the nth copy-paste NPC.

I kinda feel like the isometric point of view has an easier time achieving the atmosphere I'm looking for. I'm open to party based stuff and older games (older stuff can often set the mood better since limited graphics leaves more to the imagination).

Well, to me the most obvious suggestion here would be Planescape: Torment, if you haven't played it yet. Unfortunately the original version is not available for a fair price anymore, just as a bonus to the revamped version which is pretty expensive right now (be aware that it also has a worse rating here on GOG due to people who don't like the Enhanced Version, the way it was introduced, and/or the company behind that move. I believe the original game itself was rated 5/5). The combat in it isn't all that great, but the same could be said about Inquisitor, and the game isn't about combat so much as it is about the gritty, mysterious setting and extensive dialogue trees. There's a lot to read, and the quality is pretty good.

Tyranny</span> might fit as well, since just like in Inquisitor, you don't play a goody-two-shoes but someone involved with an oppressive regime, but I haven't played it myself, and of course it's even more expensive than Torment (and much, much shorter, from what I hear).

Personally, I also recommend Shadowrun: Dragonfall, if you're fine with turn-based party combat and a Cyberpunk setting with guns and hacking etc. It has a somewhat gritty atmosphere with dark undertones, some morally ambiguous choices, good story and characters, great atmosphere. And it's VERY cheap right now, a real bargain.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is a great atmospheric RPG with a somewhat dark and gritty setting, too, but it's fully 3D (3rd & 1st person), not isometric, and a bit Cyberpunk as well.

I assume you already own Neverwinter Nights, since it was free at one time? It's not isometric either, but there are several very good community campaigns and modules out there that might fit some or all of your requirements (and certainly surpass the original campaigns), like:
- The complete Prophet series, starting with this Prologue
- Auren Society of Weavers trilogy, starting with Almraiven (part 3 is still in the works)
- the standalone Revenant
- the standalone Deja vu
- Excrucio Eternum (ee2) (sequel to Elegia Eternum but much better, you can skip EE1 without missing much)
- Vampire: Heaven Defied (more like a prologue, but a very good one)
- Threat of Dreams series (incomplete but the first two modules are worth it for the atmosphere
- The Bastard of Kosigan series

There are many more good ones, I just listed a few with a more dark and gritty atmosphere that came to my mind. If you have any questions about NWN and community modules, just ask!

Some might consider the Witcher series dark and gritty and featuring interesting dialogues as well, but I'm not sure myself to what extent these games would fit, since I only played a bit of the first one (which you probably own already, or if not, it's also very cheap now; someone might even have a spare key left if you ask nicely).
