Well, good thing a while ago I bought TSC: Complete or whatever editions DRM-FREE from Gamesplanet.

SargonAelther: It was removed by Frogwares, apparently.

I reached out to GamesPlanet last month via email and Twitter. They said it was as Frogwares request. I have been asking Frogwares for an update since, but they refuse to comment.

I would say they're either working on a remaster (But why pull the old one until the remaster is done?) or Nacon won the dispute and Frogwares are no longer allowed to sell it.
Thank you for the Info. Sucks I waited to long.

Got this a long time ago on PS4 when my local game store started dumping the discs for less than $5 (and the game had only been out a few months)! Knew something was up... and then learned of the Nacon fiasco. Had waited on the Gamesplanet purchase for hopes the legal issues would get ironed out and The Sinking City would end up here on GOG. Still have hopes...

... but...

... fewer and fewer of them.

Feels like Frogwares might have lost there case...?
Well, I still got it on Epic (DRM free when using command line options). I still hope they will bring it back to GOG at some point.

Epic version DRM free like Days gone?

Babiboule: i bought this game on Gamesplanet like 10 months ago.
So, i can confirm this : The Sinking City on Gamesplanet was 100% DRM-Free. You have a 11-part download with the windows installers.
This was known a long time ago, no offense. The issue is it's not for sale anymore.

Edit 2: Whoops, looks like I actually own Days Gone already, thought it was still on my wishlist. But I didn't try to run it offline yet, so I don't know what you are referring to.

I mean DRM free like "no launcher needed, works out of the box".

Try
"**\TheSinkingCity\TSCGame.exe" -epicapp=MiddleMist -EpicPortal -epiclocale=en

edit: This is my older link. I don't remember why I have two or why there are two exes. If the other one for some reson won't work, try this one. I had savegame functionality and everything.

"***\TheSinkingCity\TSCGame\Binaries\Win64\TSCGame-Win64-Shipping.exe" TSCGame -epicapp=MiddleMist -EpicPortal -epiclocale=en

The runtime directory for both must be "***\TheSinkingCity"

StingingVelvet: It's on Steam. I don't think the devs get any money from that version sadly, but the game is legally available. The Gamesplanet release was just unique for supposedly supporting the devs and also being a DRM free download.
It's not that simple. The devs will get money from those sales should the courts deem it so. I got it on Steam and Gamesplanet.

Regardless, since it was on sale & w/ the coupon on top and also knowing the on-going problems w/ Nacon and Frogwares - yeah, I jumped on that ASAP.

I bought it when it was like $10 w/ a coupon/promo-code, a year ago or so, I think? Around X-Mas time? Let me go check....

[checks]

Around X-Mas 2021 - bought it for $8.99 after coupon.

g2222: "The Sinking City" is a very special case, though, as there is a dispute going on between the developer (Frogwares) and a french publisher (Nacon).
I heard that Nacon was trying to obtain the source code from Frogwares and were trying to cheat Frogwares of their due. Is this accurate? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have any knowledge about that. I'm just glad that The Sinking City is now available DRM-free on GOG. Self-published by Frogwares as it seems. :-)

There was a lot going on in the case. Rest assured that Frogwares has won at the very least temporary publishing rights. I won't say they're straight up good guys here, they've sued every publisher they've worked with. The details are sketchy, but NACON updated the game after Frogwares refused to, which Frogewares claimed was because they were owed money they hadn't received. NACON said they were all paid up, and exercised a clause in their contract that allowed them to modify the software if Forgwares didn't. But when NACON did that, they released DLCs they had no legal right to distribute and were struck down with copyright claims by Frogwares. Everntually the French courts gave Frogwares an injunction. I don't know if the case is final or not, but the game as it appears everywhere is self publishged by Frogwares now.

And The Sinking City 2 is on the way, hopefully to GOG here as well.
