Apologies if this has already been asked and answered.

I just downloaded GOG for the first time in a long time and installed The Settlers 3.

I click play and nothing happens.

Can someone please advise if this issue has been solved. Haven't had much luck finding a solution online.

I'm running windows 11 home.

Probably worth checking out the game specific forum.

Don't "download GOG" (I assume, with that you mean: "Galaxy"?), but use the offline installers instead.
