--Original announcement--
Piñata Madness is back – meaning excitement, mystery, and exceptional deals on some of our favorite hand-picked titles.

What is Piñata Madness?
For $3, you can buy and smash your own digital Piñata, each holding one of 100+ mystery games worth anywhere from $5.99 all the way up to $44.99.
Visit your <span class="bold">Pinata hub</span>, where can buy, open, and see everything Piñata Madness!
Just like real-life Piñatas, they'll bring you joy, surprise, and reward. Unlike real-life Piñatas, ours drop really good games instead of candy – games like Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic, Victor Vran, and more!
It's a great way to broaden your horizons and try out games you otherwise wouldn't, knowing you're always getting a deal that's worth it. And if you already own every game included in our Piñatas, each game you drop will be a giftable code so you share the joy with your friends.

Weekly Megasale
If you'd rather know exactly you're getting, check out the Weekly Megasale featuring great deals up to -90% on some of our favorite titles including Darkest Dungeon, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, Heroes of Might and Magic III, and more!

The Piñata Madness and Weekly Megasale last until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.
Just to thank Gog, and noticed this main thread so thought it best to not clutter up the board with another. New to Gog and the pinata game is fun. I've ended up (so far) with 8 great titles, refunds done very pleasantly and quickly for 4 I'd not play, and gift code provided for another. Can't help thinking Gog must end up with a lot of work, processing all the refunds and gift codes, but we end up with games cheaper. I only came over to Linux, and discovered Gog, 3 months ago, but I'm just stunned at how many games go on sale frequently. Obviously I'm not up on all the gaming stuff/how things are, but I just feel thankful, after having not been very hopeful regarding Linux gaming, to find there's so many here and at such a great price.

Onsdag: 1. Be open and transparent from the beginning with exactly what games were in the pool, thereby allowing the customer to weigh the risks/rewards and make their own informed decision on whether to buy in or not, instead of forcing them to jump in completely blind with only the promise of finding "exceptional deals."
2. Make a clarifying statement that the "guaranteed... game worth anywhere between $5.99 and $44.99" was for the retail value of the games and did not apply to sales prices.

Personally I believe these two things would have resolved most of the major issues we've seen, for them, and the customer.
^This.
1. Was the major problem here. Advertising great titles but none of the others is underhanded imho. This was further compounded by removing some and adding others so now even the unofficial list can't be trusted and has to be restarted. GoG should just have released an up to date list of titles instead of trying to rectify a "situation".
2. Personally I think they shouldn't have mixed it with a large sale and just included regularly priced titles. That way there would not have been any situation to start with.
I made a wiki for this if anyone is interested in adding what they got. Hopefully it won't change again.

Croyzers: I see GOG have recently updated this and are contiunieng with this over the weekend - oh well.

For anybody seeing this for the first time, GOG have confirmed that they will refund games you have received from this sale and haven't downloaded (as they are required to do)

So, buy as many Pinata's as GOG lets you! Then gets refunds for all the broken worthless crap that GOG have selected to be included in this sale.

Tsulan: so... is this legal? can they ban me for abusing this or anything? any official word?
It's part of their TOC so yes, it's completely legal and you cannot get banned for it. Also GOG already confirmed in forum that they will refund any game as long as it has not been dowloaded. It's a bit of a hassle to refund because you need to contact support first (like I said previously I would have prefered to get game codes which in case of not fitting games I could have had the possibility to gift them away) but other than that there is no problem.

Any way to watch the list so far? Using this link I only get the "add" option without showing me any game recently added.

That's exactly it, they have to be added. Unless you're talking about some technical issue but the wiki is working correctly on my side. I can go through the last couple of posts after the corrections and add a few.
What games are in the pinata?

I was jsut wondering because th elist has been edited at least 2 times but there does not seem to be any game on it yet. So basically the list is still empty?
Omg those odds are terrible, imagine paying 4$ and getting a bad game
Instead of hoping to get the 1 in 80 game you want just pay the 8$

Are they going to give one? Because about half the list is junk that's always on sale for half the pinata price

Kristian: I could put it differently: Why should I and others be deprived of a sale we have enjoyed immensely?
Because it is morally questionnable.

This is all about fucking others to put yourself above. I got shit for what I paid and you got great stuff for what you paid.

How is this acceptable? Things are good for some and bad for others, too bad for those who are fucked?

Black people, women, and other minorities are fucked but too bad as long as racists and white supremacists have it fine?

No, I'm utterly against that view of things and I will boycott any further sale that will encourage that kind of behaviour you're showing.
Are the Gog version of the Saints Row games mod friendly ?
"This is all about fucking others to put yourself above. I got shit for what I paid and you got great stuff for what you paid."

Do you feel the same about lottery tickets? Unlike lottery tickets here EVERYONE gets something. That is certainly not the case with lottery tickets. So surely according to your philosophy your criticism must apply at least as much to lottery tickets right?

In addition to that people have vastly different opinions about what is shit. I know for example that I have enjoyed not just a few, but MANY badly reviewed movies.

Are the only sales acceptable for you sales that please everyone? Is this even possible?

I mean the thing about even regular old sales like a summer sale or a winter sale is that either not all games are on sale in the first place and/or the discounts will differ from game to game. Is a RPG sale inherently unfair and/or discriminatory against FPS fans?

"Things are good for some and bad for others, too bad for those who are fucked?"

A RPG sale is good for RPG fans and bad for FPS fans, RTS fans etc.

A final question: Does the ability to not buy a piñata matter at all?
