Despite the absolute clusterfuck of the rights allegedly split between 20th Century Fox (now Disney?), Activision-Blizzard and Warner Bros - do you think GOG.com could have done the impossible (again) and a re-release is imminent?
And if not tomorrow then maybe on December, the 8th to coincide with the european release?

Fingers crossed! I love those games.

They haven't, but it's not impossible to have them released.

The only problem is that no one is willing to spend any money on clearing the legal situation. So if none of those three studios involved, or the company that attempted to re-release them didn't put any money into it, GOG won't be doing that either.

So these will remain in the pirate circles for any foreseeable future.

It's a shame, but then again not really my problem, as I have both of them for PC, and even a PS2 version of the first game.

Considering these games are very unlikely to ever be untangled from their rights-hell, I'd suggest to freely download the totally unofficially patched (for modern compatibility) versions which are very easy to find via Google. ;)

No. It's possible that they will one day menage to do it, but I hardly expect an anniversary to have much impact on the legal situation :P

Also, the existence of the aforementioned "totally unofficially patched (for modern compatibility) versions which are very easy to find via Google" may make it less attractive for GOG to spend time and resources on getting the game here. It's a vicious circle - the game is not available anywhere -> the "unofficial" version helps preserve the game -> most people interested already having the game from the "unofficial" source makes it likely to generate less sales -> the legal mess is not worth clearing up -> the game is not available anywhere...

There was a thread here at the forum that had some link that went back to the Rock Paper Shotgun game reviewers, who had information and links to those downloads. That was maybe something like 18 months ago or longer.

Many here grabbed them then of course. ;)

P.S. If GOG ever got them here, then I would still buy if a fair price.

EDIT
I see that review link that is 3 posts before mine, actually has a link to the Rock Paper Shotgun game review.

P.S. Don't be overly concerned about a negative impact on their eventual return. GOG wouldn't have lasted 6 months and Steam etc wouldn't sell old games, if abandonware uptake was that harmful. Most GOG customers, certainly in the early days, were only too keen to replace their abandonware versions, which is a very important part of GOG's success.

Indeed.
Pretty sure Diablo or Blade Runner did and still are doing pretty well sales-wise, even though both had been readily available through other means before being re-released on GOG.
