Judas, Red or white wine?

UnrealQuakie: Judas, Red or white wine?
I prefer blushes, if I am being honest. Reds and merlots are a bit too strong for my taste and whites are too dry. Blushes are that perfect compromise :)

shmerl: I had various issues with it, including intro videos not working. The list of overrides is quite useful to figure out what's missing in the stock Wine.
Strangely enough I've never missed an intro in this game. But now that you say it ... :)

I assume I have to install the Linux version to be able to explore GOGs Wine tweaks or is there any script in the package which contains all tweak commands?

They aren't our tweaks :P
Game: Sacrifice
Installer MD5: e8a1ac074282830fce07b2d3b8f7010f setup_sacrifice_2.0.0.3.exe
WineHQ AppDB link: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=983
CodeWeavers link: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/sacrifice

Distro: Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon 64bit
Kernel version: 4.4.0-47
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti
Graphics driver & version: Proprietary 375.20
Wine version(s) tested: Wine Staging 1.9.23 via PlayOnLinux, CrossOver 15.3.1

Install notes: Install & play.
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "Sacrifice.exe"
How well does it run: Almost perfect
Details: Have played through the tutorials and tested starting a new game. Only issue so far is the mouse cursor trail effect in the main menu appears to run a little fast (setting StrictDrawOrdering = enabled helps with that, but it's not really a problem. This issue does not occur with CrossOver) - aside from that this game actually runs better for me in Wine than it does on my Win7 install. Don't use CSMT or there will be stuttering & input will be very sluggish (this issue also does not occur with CrossOver). Tested with virtual desktop enabled.

Widescreen support:
Details here: http://www.wsgf.org/dr/sacrifice - Works perfectly :)

Yes, I installed the Linux version, and in starting script replaced the launch command with winecfg. That provided the list of overrides. Some of the DLLs are pretty obscure.

If using PlayOnLinux, start the games from/create shortcuts for:
"Cossacks - European Wars.lnk"
"Cossacks - Art Of War.lnk"
"Cossacks - Back To War.lnk"
Warning: I found a bug in the current version of PlayOnLinux (4.2.10) that causes shortcuts to .lnk files to break. See here for information about how to fix them: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_try_linux_repostrewrite/post130
How well does it run: Almost perfect
Details: Have played through some of the tutorials and tested starting a new game to give this a quick test. European Wars crashes on exit but this may be a game bug, as checking on my Win7 install I hear the "error" sound play on quitting (no crash dialogue though). Aside from that it all appears to work perfectly. Tested with virtual desktop enabled.

Oh, so you get the Wine installation from the game developers? I always thought GOG creates the Wine wrapper as part of the installer.
Do you also get the DOSBox installations from the game developers?

This was made by developers. See https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/two-worlds-epic-edition-openworld-action-rpg-now-on-linux-uses-wine.7302

Despite reproducing those overrides - videos still don't work for me. I wrote to developers, may be they can help explaining what exactly they did there.

UPDATE:

It just occurred to me. I compared video files from the Windows version, and one shipped with Wine wrapper. They are different! I.e. they re-encoded the files. Extension is the same .wmv, but video codecs differ. That's the trick. Windows one uses some nasty vc1 codec for video, and wmav2 for audio. And Wine wrapped one uses wmv2 for video and wmav2 for audio. I.e. vc1 was the culprit, and they just replaced it with more common wmv2.

That's it! You can just copy all *.wmv files over from the Wine wrapped version into your installation of the game in Wine, and it should work.

Offworld Trading Company starts but it crashes (for me) when you try to do the "how to play" section, but in skirmish mode it works, but it's not playable due to Wine's incomplete directX 11 support.

Screenshot of it running: http://imgur.com/a/Q2h8R
I've removed my report for Crysis Warhead as the 64-bit version still freezes with Wine 1.9.24 and a working 32-bit version still hasn't been added (and there's a lot of uncertainty as to whether a fixed version will ever be added). I'll keep re-testing with each new Wine release and will post a new report if/when either the 64-bit version of Wine is fixed or a working 32-bit version is made available.

Nice find shmerl, I've been trying the same thing with a few games lately, namely Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, no luck so far and it doesn't seem to be a codec issue.

Also you want to check this: https://www.gog.com/forum/bloodrayne_series/bloodrayne_1_easy_linux_setup_working_cutscenes_edition (I've replaced the game's movie player here, game fully tested).

How well does it run: Perfect
Details: Played through the tutorials and tested starting a new campaign - all seems to work perfectly. There is some stutter as new areas load when panning the camera over them, but this happens on Windows too. Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled (Battle for Europe freezes on exit if CSMT is enabled - this doesn't happen with CrossOver though).
