RWarehall: I still blame Fox for the decline in media values. They turned objective journalism into a sideshow. Of course, it doesn't help that newspapers don't do their own research anymore. Today I ran across the old story about some Counter-Strike player who was knifed in the game. Took six months to find the guy in real life and stabbed him. The funny thing was, I found an article which cited another article which cited a third article. I followed a bunch of links just to figure out there was one original article about it written in the Telegraph and all the other articles just added a few pictures and rearranged the story with all the same quotes.
So, while it appears all these papers investigated the story, it appears the reality is they all copied the Telegraph story. So if facts were wrong they were repeated umpteen times. That's the quality of journalism today. One paper writes something and all the others take it for truth...
I did some freelance journalism for a while. Yes, it's a joke. And the joke's on us. There's not a media entity, magazine publisher, trend setting rag, or powerhouse media division on Earth that doesn't have it's own internal agenda... the dollars at the end of that rainbow are just icing on the cake.
But I don't want to depress you by playing up the fact that we're all being lied to on a constant basis by other people in media who claim to have our best interests at heart. So here's another joke...
