I was going to make fun of that too, but then realized that I've been there before. Unless it's whiskey, most liquors don't taste all that great straight. In my early days I'd throw back shots of straight everclear. I've gotten older, and now need a little zing with the zang.

awalterj: This type of cake will be quite difficult to hunt down overseas, however you can always try to make one yourself. Here's a recipe in English:

Just one note about that recipe : you can easily double the amount of kirsch. Too much kirsch might ruin a Bavarian Black Forest cake but the Zuger Kirschtorte can handle it imho. In the original recipe 100 years ago, only a teeny bit of booze was used for flavor but I'm finding the concept of building the cake around the booze to be more interesting than vice versa.
Thanks for the recipe! I might try to hunt it down in some specialty bakery or restaurant, we'll see.

A long time ago while in college, we were doing shots of vodka. Someone decided to slip everclear in my shot. It took a few minutes before I could take a clean breath.

I bought myself 36 units(24x 0.33l + 8x 0.5l) of beer when I was finished with my work today. Eight straight days of semi-hard labour were behind me, so I thought I deserved to drink even more beer, than I would on a normal night.

I still have about 20 small cans left. I feel so fortunot.

My own poison of choice is either Don Julio Reposado or 1942. However, the gas station across the street from the hotel has these little 200ml baby bottles of Patron Silver so that will have to do until I get home in <crosses fingers> a few days.

Gonna have to try your recipe when I get back...

Apparently, someone has come up with the genius idea of mixing everclear with hot peppers. There's a recipe for it somewhere online (look for a drink mix called Prairie Fire). Two things that absolutely will cleave your throat of flesh... everclear and hot sauce.

Today I've downing a nice bottle or two of Warsteiner. It's a great hoppy beer from Germany. Stinks on the nose and first taste like you wouldn't believe, but the finish is far better. Some call that type a 'skunk' beer. Fitting name.

I'm sure it's just as good or better with the Don Julio, just for the love of alcohol, don't get cheap OJ from concentrate if you're using quality tequila.

OK I've analyzed what the problem is: you live in a modernized country. If you move to Kyrgyzstan, all you have to do is locate a nice young lady and then you can kidnap her to your lair. It's a tradition there and her relatives won't mind - in fact, they'll most likely tell you where and when to put the hit on your target you as long as they are invited to the wedding.
On the other hand, I don't know if you can purchase GOG games from Kyrgyzstan and I'm also not sure about the availability of good kirsch in these parts of the world.
