Agree. The combat is weak. And it won't get better. If the story doesn't manage to pull you in, then might as well ignore the game

I'd call it a good beginner game for those alien to the genre/style or are just starting out in gaming. Granted there might be better games out there but this one isn't difficult to master and is of reasonable length. It's well drawn for the retro styling, I'll give it that.

Yes, my activities in the GoG-forum are somewhat limited, I tend to push the store more via glowing recommendations to everyone I know and by advertising the store to fellow indies, especially when it comes to Kickstarter Projects. That's actually a pretty good way to describe the game. Decent story, graphic and gameplay. Nothing really stands out or special, but also nothing really bad either.

Checked out some reviews for Patrician 3 and youtube videos and people are saying it's kinda like a tycoon game which i kinda like.

Also checked how long to beat and it said the campaign main story is over 140 hours?
Is that true for normal playing?

Freeplay mode is the best way to play it so it's up to you how much time you want to spend. Note that most of campaign scenarios are pretty advanced and you have to be skilled to beat them (or even very skilled - especially for a mission where you have to double Hansa population within certain time). So while for games like Anno 1404 the campaign was more or less an advanced tutorial in Patrician 3 campaign is to test your migh... ekhm, skills. ;)
