LeoLR: I would ask the people indicating names to receive gifts from The Community Giveaway for more care.
As it is well known there is the Secret Santa event going on and I saw several names here who are participating there.

I'm bringing this up because there is already a conflict. My assignment for the Secret Santa was nominated here a few hours ago and I think he/she redeemed the gift if I interpreted the post correctly. And it was something that I already had bought as a gift for the Secret Santa.

Please don't take me wrong. I don't mind the gifts. I've been target of the generosity and kindness from the people here on GOG a few times before and I'm extremely grateful for it. I wish I could give back by the same amount.
It is the responsibility of the user that participate in Secret Santa to no buy/enter giveaways/accept games from his wishlist. If your assigned user do that, it is his fault, not the fault of the people that nominate/gift him.

You bring up a valid point but I'd like to remind you people are still allowed to make changes to their wishlist until the 5th.

Anyway, that's something nominators should keep in mind, even if the likelihood of conflict is very slim. Or the nominee can simply reject the gift if they're part of the Secret Santa event, that's their responsibility.

Finally, orphan gift codes will always find a good home here or at TBBBBOB.

True. I can agree with that.
I still think both parts could take more care anyway.

I am not sure about that. By the rules: "Once your secret santa is assigned DO NOT BUY OR REMOVE anything from your wishlist!"

So let me say something about this.

I already talked with trentonlf about the event and it was clear from the beginning that I'll check the nominations with the Secret Santa list and not sent out games to them.
But it is stated quite clearly in the Secret Santa Event, that wishlists can change up to the 5th. Which is tomorrow. So yes, I was not already checking it. And I am sorry to say this, but if you already bought a game it is your own fault.

So people please carry on nominating people like normal. I'll handle this and make a check with nominations after Christmas for people participating in Secret Santa to hand out games they did not already get.

I asked about this to trentonlf and, at least for my assigned user, he says that it is safe to buy the gift. Maybe is a "per case" thing.

Anyway, I do not want to continue derailing this thread. If you want to continue talking about this, please let's go to the Santa thread.

I don't deny this but if we'll stick to the rules set I think the one mentioned by siulebuo takes precedence.

I have some options anyway.
I could simply redeem the affected games although I have not much interest in them; go through the hassle of support and ask them to split the code to give them away at later time or ask for a refund of the affected games.
I'll repeat myself:

And now please end this discussion.

Pardinuz: I just noticed Azhdar is waiting for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R bundle sale:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_big_winter_sale_starts_now_a558d/post373
He's new but apparently active on the forums. Let's make that bundle a little cheaper for him with a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky nomination.
Thanks for the nomination. But I bought the whole S.T.A.L.K.E.R. pack so I don't need it anymore. Thanks again. :)
