I won't deny it, I'm quite bored this saturday night, waiting for new anime episodes to come out, so here goes the highly expected 2016 GOG AAA speculation Thread :)
Here is a list of the announced AAA games of 2016. I kept here only the Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Take 2, Zenimax, Namco Bandai, Squeenix, Capcom, Sega, Warner Bros, Epic Games, Microsoft and Sony games, plus a few odd ones. That seems like the most likely candidates to take the AAA title, but my list doesn't seem very complete, so feel free to chip in :)
Here goes :
Dark Souls III Bandai No contract, but there are relations between cdprojekt and Bandai, so...
Battleborn 2K No contract, but the game can be played solo and online, with a traditionnal pricing model...
Doom Zenimax Do Bethesda love GOG now ? :)
Mirror's Edge Catalyst EA This one is a distant candidates with origin, but the pricing model seems right
Overwatch Activision Online game and Battle.net, so not likely
Umbrella Corps Capcom No contract and japanese
Total War: Warhammer Sega No contract and japanese
Paragon Epic Games A MOBA with some microtransactions almost assured
Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Microsoft No contract and windows 10 exclusive...
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Wharehorse studios ======> Already confirmed. Could be the one, even if some won't like the lack of AAA pedigree to it...
Need for Speed EA Not very likely, EA + Microtransactions
i think that one interesting thing to filter which title has a chance and which one is very unlikely, is to see if there is a presence of microtransactions or not. DRM can be extracted, microtransaction not really... Of course it's quite hard to determine if there will be microtransaction or not, but for certain series, it seems pretty likely, like Call Of Duty, or Forza. The other thing is that AAA aren't always announced very soon, so this list is really just good for the first part of the year, there is always a new call of duty waiting just around the corner...
