I won't deny it, I'm quite bored this saturday night, waiting for new anime episodes to come out, so here goes the highly expected 2016 GOG AAA speculation Thread :)

Here is a list of the announced AAA games of 2016. I kept here only the Activision, EA, Ubisoft, Take 2, Zenimax, Namco Bandai, Squeenix, Capcom, Sega, Warner Bros, Epic Games, Microsoft and Sony games, plus a few odd ones. That seems like the most likely candidates to take the AAA title, but my list doesn't seem very complete, so feel free to chip in :)

Here goes :
Dark Souls III Bandai No contract, but there are relations between cdprojekt and Bandai, so...
Battleborn 2K No contract, but the game can be played solo and online, with a traditionnal pricing model...
Doom Zenimax Do Bethesda love GOG now ? :)
Mirror's Edge Catalyst EA This one is a distant candidates with origin, but the pricing model seems right
Overwatch Activision Online game and Battle.net, so not likely
Umbrella Corps Capcom No contract and japanese
Total War: Warhammer Sega No contract and japanese
Paragon Epic Games A MOBA with some microtransactions almost assured
Forza Motorsport 6: Apex Microsoft No contract and windows 10 exclusive...
Kingdom Come: Deliverance Wharehorse studios ======> Already confirmed. Could be the one, even if some won't like the lack of AAA pedigree to it...
Need for Speed EA Not very likely, EA + Microtransactions

i think that one interesting thing to filter which title has a chance and which one is very unlikely, is to see if there is a presence of microtransactions or not. DRM can be extracted, microtransaction not really... Of course it's quite hard to determine if there will be microtransaction or not, but for certain series, it seems pretty likely, like Call Of Duty, or Forza. The other thing is that AAA aren't always announced very soon, so this list is really just good for the first part of the year, there is always a new call of duty waiting just around the corner...

Another year that i don't even know what AAA games are going to be released. And you know what? I don't care anymore since the industry standard (too much DRM and whatever else - are microtransactions the trend nowadays? I haven't followed for a while...) is pretty much f***** up, at least that's how i see it. May 2016 be GOG's AAA year, with more older AAA's to be released! :)

ps. I keep hearing so much praise about Mirror's Edge & Dark Souls, it's a pity we don't have any of them yet. (or if ever)

what about half life 3?
I wish Mafia 3(loved the first two)would be the game since that would mean bringing Take2 to gog with a bunch of other older major releases possibly

I wouldn't mind Sega if they bring other games from their catalogue with the new release(i already own most of them on steam but everyone should enjoy alpha protocol, isolation and a lot of the games they're publishing)

I couldn't care less about Dark Souls though
I just want Deponia Doomsday. And the Telltales Batman games. So not much interest in all that AAA stuff. I guess Warhammer Total War would be fun, but other than that... meh.
Is Shadow Warrior 2 not considered AAA?
Don't know, but a gut feeling makes me point at Doom 4 - but i am probably very wrong about this ;p
Only thing we an do is to wait and see.
So far I'm interested in the follow PC 2016 "AAA" (or very close to it) stuff:

-South Park: The Fractured But Whole
-Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
-Mirror's Edge Catalyst
-Dark Souls III
-Quantum Break

Chances are none of them are going to be on GOG anytime soon (if ever), but it would be a nice surprise to see them here.

ZFR: Is Shadow Warrior 2 not considered AAA?
The term AAA got more to do with the quality, Artwork, size, and the general entertainment value of the game rather than the studio behind it, in my book.

Shadow Warrior is in the AAA category - and the same is almost certainly the case with Shadow Warrior 2.
never heard of any of those games listed in OP

IMHO, anything "new" from EA, Square, Ubisoft... extremely unlikely, main reason : Denuvo. The are not going to release anything new DRM-free now that, at least for the time being, they have a DRM that is very hard/long to crack.

The only exception could be the "non-AAA", "experimentali-sh" games from Ubi like Child of light or Valiant Hearts, but AFAIK none are currently planned.

Bandai, unlikely, they used VMProtect, the poor guy Denuvo, on a 10 years old Tales, so it's unlikely that will see the DRM-free light anytime soon, especially for a new release. And them being a Japanese company definitely doesn't help.

Techland: maybe, they haven't yet jumped on the Denuvo bandwagon and being also a polish dev maybe CDP could manage to convince them, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

I could be wrong but I strongly suspect that the "2016 AAA" title will most probably be : Original Sin 2 , Kingdom Come: Deliverance, or something else AAA-ish / semi-indy rather than a big title from one of the big companies.
Shadow Warrior 2 is coming to gog no matter what which is nice. :)

I´d love to see ME: Andromeda on gog, but that is wishful thinking, plus it got delayed to 2017. :(

Outlast 2 is probably coming to gog

Hellblade, don´t know if it´ll get released on gog

Batman: A Telltale Games Series, I think it´ll release on gog at the same time as it will release on Steam, except that the publisher is WB and with them you never know what they will do. Let´s hope for the best.
Far Cry Primal :P
