... alas, some users has this here game where they try to harvest all and any code they come by without as much as a thank-you. A wierd game, and somehow fascinating, but it kind of bring the forum down a tad.

To avoid this, maybe instead of code-drops, you could just tell what game you give away and PM the code to whoever asks for it?

I appreciate your good intention, but could you please change the title of the thread a bit? Not every user is reading the entire thread, just keeping their eyes on the headlines and this might encourage in doing in exact the opposite way. Thank you for considering.

While I may still not agree with the sentiment being delivered, the method currently used to deliver the sentiment in this thread is actually the best suited way to do deliver your points. Instead of acting like an armed thug with a threat to anyone being a generous soul, we get someone who properly thanks and appreciates the code-droppers and advise them to use other methods, and even thanks both those who stop code-dropping and those who don't.

Again, I may not agree with the idea behind stopping code droppings, but this thread actually took all the flaws of its threatening peer into heart and hammered them, such as realizing that you're but a member on this forum with no power (evident from the lack of threats, especially the title), politely speaking the point out instead of throwing chairs, and then appreciating people who do giveaways regardless of method.

The problem with code dropping and even "First to PM me" drops is that it encourages people to constantly browse the forums for the free games so they can be the first to respond. They instead should be playing their games or God forbid living life. No one should feel they have to check the forums more than once or twice daily. It really is no wonder we have so many "greedy" and/or "thieving" people hanging around on our forums and some of them trying to scam people out of codes while they wait for the next freebie.

Now, for longer giveaways, it at least gives the regular forum-goer a more equal chance.
