Journey and Master Mode, golf game, new weather effects - those are only a few features that come along with a large update for Terraria titled Journey’s End. Changes were also made in character and world creation menu, as well as in balancing some of the enemies’ strengths and weaknesses.

Kakarot96: If only all devs were like Re-logic...instead, we get tons of overpriced dlc's with little content in some cases. Or no updates at all.
Yes, but let's be realistic here, most games don't sell tens of millions of copies off of a tiny budget and can't afford to spend 9 years doing updates to the same game. I don't doubt that more devs would love to provide dedicated support like that, but there's only so much they can do with little or no income. Terraria-like success is very rare.

Of course, but i'm sure we all can think at least about a good bunch of examples that went the wrong way, got dlc's instead of fixing the bugs in the base game, charged for what it should have been free updates (walled content that was originally in the game on release, for instance), added new gameplay mechanics to a dlc that forced us to buy it because in the base game the IA started to use those new mechanics against us despite not having that dlc, etc. (and i'm sure we all can think about more examples)

I was talking in general, but those who had the sales, budget and opportunity and chose instead to milk an idea until they broke their own game worth the comparison with Terraria, imo. This is an example to keep against all the greedy decisions out there (little devs and big devs, and also publishers ofc) not against those devs (specially indies) who tried and couldn't.

Last year GTA V won the Labor of Love award on Steam. We know how it goes and has little importance but it would be funny it it weren't tragic.

Oh, and i'm an idiot, thank you also GOG for preparing the offline installers so quickly and on Saturday. Much appreciated :))

Cancelled as far as I know. They tried a couple times at least to get it off the ground but had to redo everything for this and that and it just wasn't going to happen. Maybe it will eventually but currently development hell ( if you don't know the term, it just means it's a game that has been said to be worked on but never finished for any number of reasons, so they just sit somewhere and that's all ).
Question : Is there a peaceful mode of the game ? I don't want to fight against the monsters .

There's a new Journey mode, where you can completely disable monsters, enable God mode, and with many more customization options.

Well, Runic games was cool too. I remember, when I bought the boxed version of Torchlight 2 on realease day. They pushed out patches like crazy, many of those patches did add extra content for zero costs!
I remember how astonished I was after each patch, to find things in the game that weren`t there before.

Terraria: Otherworld was cancelled. And while it was alive, they tried to make it very clear that it was a spin-off, not Terraria 2. Terraria 2 would (will?) be separate project if it ever happens.
This is very much the definition of an indie hit with its +30 million lifetime sales... Now where can I find the next unicorn? ;)

It sounds like Journey mode is for those players who like to use things like assist modes or cheats, whether for accessibility reasons (the game isn't fun for them otherwise), because they don't like some aspect of the game that can be changed on that mode, or simply because they just want to play around.

(Don't forget that you can make things harder on this mode; you can have Master mode level enemies with a fast spawn rate on Journey mode if you want.)

(Also, while this mode is good for accessibility, I still see a complaint about not being able to increase the font size, so there may still be an accessibility issue there.)
Started a new game again. Bored digging through thousands of underground tiles to find iron/copper for tools/weapons/armor. Again. Meanwhile, I'm putting off building wooden boxes for rude and mostly useless NPCs to live in. This is why I never got far into Terraria, maybe it gets fun later but the early game is such a tedious grind. I go into it imagining building giant glass water tanks to live in, taking on huge bosses with a flamethrower and skipping across water with a slime mount, but the reality is I spend hours digging around in the dark placing down torches every few steps.

You could, of course, try Journey mode, where you can just duplicate iron/copper once you've found enough. (At least, that's my impression from what I've read.)

Thank you for helping sort that out. :D

Now... why weren't the new tracks added to our music goodies yet?? :o

thats exactly it. copper bars only need 25 to be able to duplicate them, ore is 100.
acessories and weapons onl need a single item.
in ~20 mins play running across the surface and opening chests I was well on the way to dupeville.
got bored of that pretty quickly though, but if i ever fancy just building i can go back.
