So I found out my Asus 1080p monitor comes with an ASCR mode that basically improves the brightness, contrast of the monitor.

My brother used my Monitor to hook up the PS4 and he was playing Mortal Kombat X on it, but then all of a sudden the screen went black, and then it came back again. And at times this happens recurringly.

Than I noticed the flashes of Black Screens again, this timw I was playing Diablo 2 and it happened during the Cinematics, then I decided to turn off ASCR mode and checked the Cinematics again and the black screens did not happen.

So if anyone went through this as I did can you explain why this happens when ASCR Mode is on and is there anyway to prevent it?
No idea why it happens (although it's likely due to the fact that it 'fakes' better contrast ratio by darkening the screen in low-light scenes for deeper blacks - or something like that), but a quick google search turns up lots of reports of the issue. Just keep the option turned off.

Used to have the same problem with my AUSUS. It has nothing to do with your hardware setup but the ASCR function doesn't work properly tbh. I had to google search for hours before finding out that you had to turn it off -__-
It's a common issue...
My friend has this issue and he turned it off, Like Zurvan7 said it is a common problem and tbh it's crap and never use it only use the regular monitor settings and adjust brightness and whatnot on the control panel.

Did you ever calibrate the color settings or just used the preset out the box?

At this point I can just say screw having ASCR on at all.

Besides I increased the brightness on its own and it made the screen look the same as with the ASCR on anyway :P
if it is IPS panel or PLS give this setting a try if you want, I use a professional calibration tool and I found the most accurate color settings and MAYBE they might be great for you and you might like

Custom and go R85/R83 G84 B100 I use a Dell and I have an Asus beside it and it worked perfect for it.

Test it out and see what you are missing :P

Post us the model of monitor I might have the same one

As I said before I don't care about any of this anymore besides that black screens only occur while playing a Video Game.

Browsing the web, or my desktop does not cause it at all.

So I will only turn it off while I play a video game on my PC.
