Hi all,

I'm new to all this and have just downloaded GOG Galaxy and purchased a game.

I've installed the game, pressed "play" but when the menu loads and I try to launch the game it comes up with an error saying

"The code execution cannot proceed because d3dx9_43.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

Reinstalling did not solve the problem. I found that another game had experienced the same issue where they were advised to delete this file and try again but I can't even find the file if I'm honest. As you can see I'm not very technically inclined but I've not really had problems playing other games.

Can anyone suggest what to do?

Thanks :)

That's a DirectX issue, you need to reinstall those.

Edit: came back to give you link but Triock had the foresight to do just that in reply. ;-)

That should solve this issue and hopefully others you've encountered with other games.

Would I need to save the file to a specific location for it to have any effect? I've tried this and it still hasn't worked but don't really know where to save it.

All you need to do is download to say your download folder (it may be by default or you need to specify or download just wherever as long as you remember where you told it to), then once this is done just run the installer and let it do its job.

You must restart your computer.

You then should be all good to go.

Thank you! I've managed to get there even though it took far longer than it should have for someone who should be able to use a computer :p

Appreciate your help!!!

Glad you got it sorted. Don't knock yourself down, even the savviest of tech had to start and learn somewhere, and there you did it:: you started and learned. ;-)
