Devastor: QUESTION: OneFiercePuppy, if i buy the
"Elemental: War of Magic"-CD from Amazon, is it possible to install & play it without Internet access (without steam and the others), like a GoG game?
Assuming you get what the image shows, then yes. With the version I bought - and the version Amazon has for sale on their english language site - you can play without an internet connection. But if you want to download updates, you have to activate the game online.
I would like to say again, though - if you have Fallen Enchantress, you shouldn't find any reason to buy Elemental. Fallen Enchantress is just the improved version, and it's actually improved, not "improved". It's the same engine, but it scales better. The economy is functionally the same, but balanced better. The armies and monsters are more varied in FE, and better balanced, too (in Elemental, eight peasants with wooden sticks will beat a great dragon every time, because of the very poor damage system). Fallen Enchantress is everything Elemental was, but better. Still, if you really want to buy it, it's cheap.
EDIT: If you liked Master of Magic (and if you never played Master of Magic, then stop what you're doing and buy it, it's amazing), and also liked Fallen Enchantress, then I'd recommend three games/series to you: Worlds of Magic (available on Steam only, right now, but should be coming to GOG this year) is very much like Master of Magic, but a bit more complex, and thus has a bit more replay value. Warlock: Master of the Arcane, and the sequel Warlock 2, are 1UPT but otherwise quite similar to the feel of MOM and FE. Finally, Disciples and Disciples 2 - available here on GOG - are very good 4x-lite games in the style of Heroes of Might and Magic.
You have played Heroes of Might and Magic 3, haven't you? If not, just get that and Master of Magic and we'll see you in five months =)
