So if my country also increases it's tax, does that mean GOG prices will also adjust accordingly?

Imports work much better when they are physical goods, things that have to go through a system... However i doubt digital goods work well with that, more likely taxes won't go up unless they get bagered by the government, and even then could it be enforced without turning off the internet? If you look at them refusing to rate Hotline Miami 2, i can bet there's people playing the game over there...

I also wonder what would happen if Australia insisted every text message or IM used over the internet or phone has to give 1 cent per message, same sort of thing, really really hard to enforce, and if everything goes encrypted (SSL, SSH) Proving you even got a game becomes more difficult unless they kick down the doors at Poland with a warrant, which i really don't see happening.

But i am not a lawyer, so i could be totally wrong, but i really don't see it meaning much or working well; Physical goods with physical games yeah those will go up.... Course a lot of countries get shafted when it comes to the price of games anyways, wonder when it will break the camel's back and they get much less because no one wants to pay them any more in taxes...

Instead of using {url=link}text{/url] he used {url}text{/url}.

JMich: Instead of using {url=link}text{/url] he used {url}text{/url}.
But that just translates to {url=text}text{/url}...

or it should...

Not on this forum, it doesn't. An http text will be translated to {url=http text}http text{/url}, though it will miss trailing slashes. This forum is a homebrew, not one used elsewhere.

Time to experiment!

Welcome to GOG dimension where nothing works the way you expect it to. ;-p Didn't you see the giant "Please leave your sanity behind when entering" neon sign when you signed into GOG asylum? X-D

Yes i did, however since sanity had left me with typos, i assumed it was a bakery and tried to stuff it full of biscuits.... like... Total Biscuits.... or Some Cookie.... (subtle joke?)
Import is a very specific tax concept, that always relate to a movable physical good . Downloading a game is not an import by itself, but part of a service provision that is subsequent to the purchase of a licence. There might be a tax on purchasing software licences from foreign providers, but that's not an import tax as such.

For instance, in the EU, if one purchases a game from a US based portal, the VAT is due but ni import tax. If one purchases the physical box from the company , the entry of the box on the EU territory will trigger VAT + import tax + import fees, all of this calculated on the price of the goods + cost of transport ( except if the total value is very low )

I'm suddenly reminded of something i saw as a child... It was large slabs of very valuable stones, polished and with a slight dip in them. To import/export them from where they were, it would have taken a fortune. Ruby, or sapphire, or other types of rock. But if they were classified as a ash-tray (the slight dip) the taxes problem went away.

I'm also reminded in Washington state, they wanted to classify pumpkins as decorations (rather than a food) so they could add further taxes on those...

Nonsense! It's a fossilized stage act where a little magician will spin miniature plates on sticks.
