I am DEARLY hoping that the new Source Port update to System Shock Enhanced Edition is also coming to GOG.com.

Can anyone confirm if GOG.com is going to freely update their version of SSEE so that it too features the Source Port upgrade?

I hate to direct even a penny of hard earned cash to the mega-monopoly known as Steam, but more can be read about the Source Port from Steam's site (they're the only ones that have it right now).

Coming to GOG.com? I hope so!

Coming soon? It better be!

Huh?

How did I miss THAT?

GOG.com should update this game's sale site. The date of the game's release is listed as Sept. 1994, but that's its ORIGINAL release date. They should have an Source Port UPDATED listing as well, to flag its importance to potential customers.

And they don't mention the other glorious features unless one expands the page's listings downwards.

Steam's page makes it perfectly clear that a great upgrade has been implemented. Smart marketing on their part. Come on GOG.com, update that page!

Thank you for your VERY speedy help folks.

My wallet will be lighter, but my brain will be happier for it!

In fact, I only learned about it from ModDB's posting of some cool sounding mods for it.

More here on the mods in case anyone's interested...

I was under the impression that the Enhanced Edition was always a source port and the fact that GOG sells the source port is indicated by the presence of Enhanced Edition in the title.
Was I wrong?
No, the initial Enhanced Edition was NOT a Source Port.

The version available through Steam allows for resolutions as high as 4K (!), many widescreen scenarios, true mouse-look, etc. It looks MUCH better than before, and the controls will feel a lot more natural.

According to those who've posted earlier replies, GOG.com's version of SSEE has been happily upgraded to the Source Port (which was released on Sept. 6, 2018).

If you read the comments for the official YouTube commercial, posters in the comments section state that GOG did upload the Source Port version on Sept. 8, 2018.

GOG should REALLY be highlighting this upgrade in a MAJOR way, along with it's price being temporarily reduced (Steam must by selling oodles of it right now).
Just to avoid confusion. That "source port" is not the "re-imagining" listed on this page:
