BitMaster_1980: Thesis: The downvoting is not for the personal choice but the obnoxious broken record
Thesis:
only you see me that way.
Also:
that means forum bias.
Not very mature.
But whatever.
Anyone is free to ignore the fact that not all my posts relate to controversial things people don't agree with personally.

BitMaster_1980: and unnecessary shovelware jibe.
I'm calling it how I feel about it.
As in:
being forced to accept the marketing slew in order to get something "free".
Because that's what it is in reality: forcing people to subscribe.
You (or anyone else) may not like the wording but it is exactly that.
Thank you for another giveaway!

I wish Death Rally Classic could show up as a "permanent" freebie.
Thankssss <3
Thanks for the free game. Looks interesting and different.

Weird. You expect others to just nod in agreement to whatever your opinion is but when other people express their own opinion in a calm and unobtrusive manner by using the designed minus-symbol, you appear to label it uncivil and immature.

Anyway, thanks for the game. Although it looks a bit actiony so it will have to wait until the weather cools down a bit...

It is rather immature like a little kid mashing a button.

There is a big problem with the "designed minus-symbol" unfortunately. A problem GOG simply is unable to recognize. It does not only show if somebody is liking or disliking (or rather agreeing or disagreeing) to a certain post/opinion it also leads to loss in reputation if it has been pressed too often. Meaning a person who often explains opinions that are not the same as the opinions shared by the majority becomes - at least in GOGs eyes - less reputable. I don't think that this is a good thing. We all have opinions and sometimes those do clash. In most cases when it comes to "opinions" there is no right or wrong. And then there is the well known problem that some people and/or bots are downvoting random posts of users just to get their reputation down. That is one of the reasons why I will personally only downvote a post if it contains hate speech or other things that might actually hurt people. Whenever I strongly disagree with someones opinion or whenever I think that the opinion pointed out was probably made because of missing information I could provide I'd rather simply create a post and explain myself. I know pressing a minus button is easy as it can be - but it's also lazy, hurts reputation and expresses nothing of your own opinion.

I don't have a problem with it. I mean, having negative rep doesn't actually do anything negative does it? Maybe you can't post links or attachments? You definitely don't get banned or anything, correct?

If anyone is just automatically getting downvoted it's because they have a reputation. Like, was anyone surprised to see the guy come in here and go off on a mini rant about harmless marketing e-mails? I sure as hell wasn't. And then on top of that they're telling people to be remain civil and mature and to not downvote them... Like, come on, man. That's just asking to get downvoted.

Just having an unpopular opinion isn't going to get you downvoted to the point you have to worry about getting negative rep. More likely, if you find you're constantly being downvoted than it's probably time for you to change your behavior, or deliver your opinions in a less abusive or negative way.

That is correct, it does not ban you or anything but believe it or not it mighht still hurt some people to get downrepped. You see, I am spenfing most of my free time in this forum to help people and I am losing rep constantly since months. It's like a slap in the face. Maybe several people can completely ignore it but I am sure that's not the case for everybody. Also, like I said, it simply is not fair to lose reputation just because you have a different opinion.

Exactly what I meant. Just hit the button - wow I am so strong, this guy didn't deserve it any better. You really think THIS is the correct way? I strongly disagree here with all of my heart. At least HE took the time to express his opinion. Even though I don't share his opinion at least he expressed it. All those others simply hit the minis button and felt strong about it. Newsflash: That's cowardish and nothing more.

If it would be that easy. I am getting contsnatly dowrepped every 2 weeks or so (if you don't believe me - watch my rep the next two or three weeks - it was on 4291 at the highest and with several high repped posts and no downvoted one see where I am) and I am quite sure that I don't tend to offend people in most cases.

So to make it short: I strongly disagree that it is a good or valid thing to push the minus button just because I don't like somebody or I don't share his opinion.

And now you can downvote this post (which probably will happen).

Honestly, I don't understand why your posts are downvoted, as you sound totally reasonable and respectful. I guess I will upvote you just to show how powerful I am ;)
