Today I downloaded the help file to the two Earthworm Jim games, and I was met with some trouble. Mainly the fact that Windows 10 doesn't support help files by default and will redirect to their article on how Help files are no longer supported on Windows 10.

I have fixed the issue myself by enabling Windows 10 to view help files (by replacing the W10's winhlp32.exe with XP's winhlp32.exe), but that is not the point of this thread, really.

The point is, I remembered that GOG is best known for making ancient games that would run into many compatibility issues on modern operating systems a delight to install and play again on the latest (when possible). So I was thinking if there was some way (on GOG's behalf, again, I have solved the problem on my end) to manage the same for the extras/game goodies. Like providing a wrapper with the Help file download to run said .hlp file in a contained environment (I heard the .hlp format was axed due to a security risk).

How would that sound?

Thanks for the info, had a few of those files, but never bothered checking.
A quick look up from different sources showed not supported since past-XP.

And as W7 and W8(.1) is still a long time running, I agree with you there.
Even if they would include either a link or a helper program to view those. So yes, me thinks as well, GOG shall do something there (minimum the link.
