It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

dnovraD: I'm not going to say GOG Galaxy is bad, but I will say it was much better in the original form it was; though I reject the idea of glorified Chromium box apps (Electron) anyway.

Though, the ideal way of Linux support I'd give would be tar.gz or Appimages.
A bit off topic but I sometimes use a simple helper program written in Java wich "recently" got a electron version and while the size is oders of magnitude bigger (like 1.5MB to 150MB, if we do not count the JAVA Runtime install), it performs so much better on modern hardware.
I guess my point is, Electron apps have their place :)
There was a screenshot shared on the Heroic Games Laucher sub-reddit some little time back, in their regular news posts (which all seem to have been deleted now) which was between the moderator there and one of the Heroic devs. It showed them chatting about the money Heroic gets when you buy a GOG game by using Heroic, or use their link.

https://heroicgameslauncher.com/donate

But here you can see that if you use their link there:

"One-time. Use our link when making purchases on GOG and support the project. Cool right?" it will give Heroic a % of the sale to help support their development. It is the same when using the Heroic Launcher itself too, it just uses that same link and opens in the browser!

But I will try reach out to that moderator and see if she will share that screenshot again so I can share it

In the end, it's so nice that GOG have this set up with them! It can't be much of a cut, but still great that they're officially supporting it in some way!

vv221: They could, and it would greatly cut costs in addition to once again being able to work on the store itself.

But they won’t. They still live in the dream of becoming some kind of new Steam.
Many people demand the functionality of Galaxy, be it cloudsaves or achievements, or multiplayer tie ins that developers wouldn't have included without it. Sorry, you're not GOG's only customer, and sdon't represent a majority in any way there. I could take or leave Galaxy. I like it for the convenience of one click downloads and updates. I don't HAVE to have achievements , but they're nice. I don't do any multiplayer gaming, or almost none (I have helped a few people kill bosses in Elden Ring, but that's not even on here).

They don't live in a dream of becoming Steam, they live in a plce of servicing their customers' needs or they'll go under.

They can have all that and even more, in a better shape, by shopping from Steam in the first place.
What we want we can't have, and what we can have, we don't want. Que sera, sera.

DSHLK: There is a partnership with the Heroic dev team. They get a small % of money for each game that is bought through Heroic on GOG, and the team is in contact with GOG, at least on some level.

.Keys: That's nice to know! Thanks for sharing.
May you please share any source of this info, only for conscience confirmation, if you will? :)

I confirm that any mention of that has been deleted.
Fortunately there are still other links:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/heroic_games_launcher_213_released/post1

https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher/releases/tag/v2.13.0

We also started a partnership with GOG and now every game you buy from the GOG store inside Heroic will give us a commission, so it is another way of supporting the project. :)

The link is also available at https://heroicgameslauncher.com/donate if you prefer to purchase games in your web browser.

Atlo:
So it seems it's been officially confirmed, but it 'sliped' while negotiations were being truly made - or they gave up on everything, if they indeed deleted things.

I thank you both for the sources, but we better wait for official announcements then. :)
