Well, this is my very honest opinion, and I hope not to bother anyone... but if I do, I don't care :P

It was never my intention to annoy somebody because of this, and I don't think that the only two rules I've been using are annoying also. For me, the whole story started when I made a giveaway and the winner didn't say anything during, and never said "thanks" when he/she received the gift at the end. So, for the next giveaway I increased the CV to keep people like him/her out and to give donors a much better possibility to win, and made it with the best game I could get: "Mark Of The Ninja", I didn't even have that game back then (now I have it thanks to a trade), and for a person like me with a very limited "fund" for games, that was important, it was supposed to be great, but... this time, the winner did the same as the last, and it took his time to mark the gift as received, and not even a "thanks" again.

That was a really letdown, and I didn't made a giveaway for the next month or so, until early April, for my "Birthday Giveaways". Since that resulted at least good again, I kept with this and bought better games, and guess what: the same winner who won "Mark Of The Ninja" won the great expansion for "Overlord", with a plus, he didn't even left a message when I asked so... (and he blamed SG, yeah right...)

I already had bought "Overlord II" to gift later after that, but since I had to give the expansion to him, I said "f*ck that! I'm not wasting more money in people like him!", so I redeemed "Overlord II" for myself, and now I'm back to bundle games.

That's what happens when you and your friends have been through the same. And when you look at these people, none of them have made a giveaway for the group, you don't know them, they never reply back or when they do, you're surprised for the very low reputation they have... so who the hell are they? I have only one answer for that question: LEECHERS. They are only here to get free games and then leave.

This is supposed to be a group for group giveaways for GOG gamers, and it is supposed to be different from public giveaways. So the next thing you think is, if group giveaways are allowed to have rules, so why don't we create a few reasonable ones, to "clean the house" and give a better chance of winning for the good and active people of GOG?

And that's how this started, at least for me. I have a really good game to gift, and also others "non-bundle" games, but I won't risk them, not again, until I see this place safe and clean from leechers. I already learned my lesson.

Also, I want to say thanks to liquidsnakehpks for his very hard work. He has been awesome this whole time, making everything to work for the best :)

Now, since this place is for giveaways... Do you want to kick someone's ass? (hopefully not mine): KARATEKA

Open for 2 days. Cheers, and good luck! ^_^

Just a heads up on a piece of information I just received from support: Rules (the ones where you want to request a re-roll if the winner has not complied) to giveaways can only be placed on private giveaways and need to be run by support before hand.

Group rules can be enforced though; this is just regarding extra rules.

uchristensen: but when a frequent gifter can be banned for not making a throwaway "thanks" comment, something is wrong.
When a frequent gifter only cares about joining giveaways without reading the description or without caring about the other gifter's wishes, something is wrong indeed. Some people seem to have a problem making this distinction.

Also worth noting a person isn't banned for "not making a throwaway comment", just a first warning (and before it was a temp kick). One only gets actually banned if he repeats such behavior more than once or twice despite warnings.

Anyway, now that things have cooled off a bit, I just wanted to say that I implemented the "leave a comment/say freaking anything" rule because it was quite disheartening to see giveaways with 50 entries and only half of the the people leaving any kind of comment. They were just a bunch of random names in the entries list for me. It's not something I expected of a relatively small private group. I didn't want to punish anyone for that and I actually avoided reporting cases when the temp-banning started.
Sorry if it was perceived as "stupid" or people got the feeling that I was "out to get folks who make minor mistakes or manage to misread them". Personally, I only reported two cases when I started seeing people do the same thing over and over again, which meant they weren't reading the description and were inactive in the forums. Hell, in c00l's case I went to the trouble of posting on his steam profile to make sure he doesn't get in trouble, only for him to go ballistic on me and the admins.
I still don't see why it's such a huge inconvenience to write anything on an SG giveaway page, especially when people here post in forum giveaways all the time, but I don't really want people getting kicked because of it.
The question is what happens if a gifter uses such a rule, requests a re-roll based on it and the re-roll isn't approved.

Punished_Snake: I never had a problem with the group, but recently it's like "I'm giving you something, you MUST follow my rules if you want it".
And I don't like it.EDIT: By the way, I ALWAYS leave a comment on the GOG giveaway, even if it's not a "rule". Just to be precise.
No, you don't. :P

Lol, I confused it with a "common" Maw giveaway, I haven't seen that was a GOG giveaway XD
You can check all the giveaway for GOG community I entered, I usually leave always a comment, if this desn't happen, it's because I screwed something :P
Thanks anyway :)
Being an avid old Father Nurgle player on the tabletop I had to enter this thanks ;)
The Maw that is LOL

Yes, I love the Warhammer setting, but I'm not very familiar with it or the tabletop games. I just went looking for an appropriate chaos god and Nurgle seemed right. I wanted to use some other pic of him, but didn't want to disgust people. :D
Well the God of Pestilence and Decay has a tendency to do that LOL

I was just thinking, it would be cool if we could create giveaways here that aren't visible on the SG page's search system, and could only be access by the forum's URL. It would have been cool if in my latest giveaway only people who noticed I had posted a link to the giveaway (that is, the people I was chatting with at the time and lurkers) would be aware of the giveaway's existence; instead of 17 random people I didn't even know and probably just found the giveaway in SG instead of following the forum here.

You can argue that it would be a ninja giveaway more than a SG one, but:
a) I can set a future timeframe (in this case, it was a 1 hour timeframe the day after the link was posted, which I did with the intention of only having people who saw it and cared enough to remember to look for it again the day after joining the giveaway).
b) The choosing happens automatically, I don't have to bother doing the randomizing myself (yes I'm lazy)
c) I don't like successfull ninjas, specially the ones who don't even show up to let people know in the forum. It feels that they are making fun of how much I suck at being a ninja. And last one I did was taken by someone with negative rep, I wasn't very happy about that.

I think I would do all my steam giveaways in this manner if this kind of private messaging was available.
