cecil: Can you drop levels in SG?
I swore I was a 3 at one point and now am a 2... very very odd... didn't know you have to "gift dump" to maintain level since that just seems IMHO goofy...
avatar
Asbeau: Yeah, it happens. The most common reason is that a game's price has changed at the Steam store.
Well IMHO that's total BS
thanks for letting me know the answer though but a whole level not like I'm 2.8 but like I was3 and now am barely 2 oh well...

Yeah, and it happens all the time. The decimals in the levels are always changing when a game changes price somewhere and SG recalculates the levels. Sometimes these changes are very drastic and can make you drop a full level at some point. And this is when people mostly notice the change.

I only care cause Trent tends to make everything 3+ and he tends to bring the good stuff so I don't want to be left out by low level. I assume as I "rank up" the levels paradoxically matter way less?

I just checked this out further and as far as I can tell it seems that two of the games you gave away (Tick's Tales and Cornerstone) should have been classified as bundled games since October 5th, but they were only added to the bundled list on December 4th. Another one (Barrow Hill) should have been classified as bundled from Nov 19th, but was also only added to the bundled list on December 4th.

In other words, your CV was actually higher than it should have been due to the bundled games you gave away not being counted as bundled, and now this mistake has been rectified.

Well that sucks how much less are bundle games worth? and how long do they stay on the "bundle discounted value list?"

Once a game is on the bundle list it stays, they don't come off.

Bundled games give 15% of their store value. They stay on the list permanently.

Bundle games are worth about 15% of their listed value. So while the 3 games Asbeau mentioned would've initially netted you about $36 worth of CV, they now net you $5.40. I don't know what your level exactly is, but level 2 goes from $25 to $50, and level 3 from $50 to $100, so if you were at the lower end of level 3, it is totally plausible that a $30 drop would land you almost at the start of level 2.

Bundle games stay at 0.15 of the listed value permanently.

so for example broken age is $25 on Steam so it's worth $3.75 since it's been a bundle?

Firstly, re: HoF -I didn't think you were harsh - my son loves these kinds of games so I was curious what others were out there :-)
Secondly, If you buy the Humble Monthly, anything that hasn't been previously bundled will give you full value - at least until it gets re-bundled. Humble Monthly games are not considered bundled.
Thirdly, yes, a bundle dump to bring you back up over level 3 is the only way. I wavered between 6 and 7 for months like a yoyo since I wasn't doing a lot of GA's. Now I'm well into level 7 and unlikely to drop back (she says hopefully :-p)

I think if I dropped a level I would cry
