lettmon: I really don't like these kinds of games of late that take advantage of 'tragedy sells' - To The Moon, Journey, Brothers A Tale of Two Sons and now this game and I'm sure there's more indie games like that out there. Brothers would have been a great game but the beginning and ending were so pathetic I was cringing. But I admit if I had knowledge and skills to create a game I would do it too! I would name it 'That Bastard, Ebola'.

zeogold: It's not really a "tragedy sell" if it's a good game. That's like saying Edgar Allen Poe was a lousy writer just because his stories were sad.
I guess my problem with these games is that for me gaming should equal fun or challenge, and I can't take drama or tragedy in a video game seriously. Cancer is terrible, I know better than many because I have lost a family member to it! And one of my favorite music artists died of it recently. But why would anyone create a game about it? Let's all buy it and play it and be sad. No thanks.

Tallima: ~snip

Once we had our son, we learned that we're hardly anything special. Many, many, many people deal with hardships with their family's health. It's part of life. It's a tough part, but it's also filled with many joys, encouragements and massive heaps of love.
I didnt see any errors so no worries, not that I pay much attention to grammar and spelling in forum chats. :p My thoughts are with your little warrior, I have a niece who injured her spine while on duty and she has had a few fusions and will prob have more. I worry about her constant pain but with proper treatment, pain management and rehab most patients can do well and live lives normally. This i wish for him.

What you posted at the end is very true, most of us get thrust into these situations and just have to deal any way they can. If someone finds a game helpful then more power to them. I personally dont like entertainment that dwells on my sorrows, and prefer more escapist genres.

I look at it as being the same value as a book or a drama movie:
It tells a story.
However, if it does so badly/not in an entertaining way, then it ain't worth buying. There IS value in it if it's well-done and enjoyable, though.
Kind of off-topic with the initial post but speedrunners are already on the game:
