mrcrispy83: also

The children have to learn about Tek Wars sooner or later.
Ha, Tek War was cool!
I like 'em all.

P.S. But Trek is fav.
P.P.S. However, favorite scene out of all of them is probably Battle of Hoth.

Starmaker: This. By which I mean "I don't care, I haven't seen either."

Elmofongo: I forgot Avatar existed :P
I forgot, too. I googled "chinese knockoff batman" and this came up. The point is that while mainstream Western people laugh at bizarre knockoffs, the rest of the world (certainly the makers of this awesome garment) can't tell because they don't care. At least part of the fun factor comes from the assumption that knowledge of pop culture is universal. Because we laugh at Superman mislabeled "Batman" but don't laugh at the primary edge problem in thermal conductivity mislabeled as the primary edge problem in wave theory. Now I certainly don't mean that not having a preference is somehow superior, simply that having a preference isn't universal.

vicklemos: There, fixed :P
Wait, are you saying that ST is worse than a turkish SW clone? XD

Btw: Turist Ömer Uzay Yolunda
I like Star Trek and Star Wars, but the best is Perry Rhodan. It`s the biggest SF-Series in the world!
Spoke Skywalker xD

I have seen some cool art work with that name. Is it a comic or a novel?

Turist Ömer Uzay Yolunda>ST

Uhh, yeah, they're so completely different I really don't understand this mentality of comparison at all ever. They are so different and non-exclusive to being liked, this way of thinking needs to die. I'll talk about them both a little bit.

As long as we don't include the ruinated reboots that JJ Abrams did/is doing of both franchises... I love them both! They both have a lot to them. I don't like all of the content for either of them, certainly.

Star Trek is more intellectual. It is social commentary, ethical quandary/moral dilemma, what-if encounters, and personal relationship dynamics within a world of exploration and discovery.

Star Wars is more philosophical. It is about positive and negative forces being a part of the world and the balance between them. It is about facing the darkness within ourselves, finding the ways to be good and exemplifying it into our ways of being despite the temptations of greed, power, control, blind loyalty to authorities, and ease of living that draw us. It's about the power of the choices you make and how those choices guide you into the life that you have. It's about overcoming your fears and controlling your anger and not letting it control you. It's about redemption and, regardless of how far we fall, how there is a path to the light if only we embrace it and work to quiet the evil within.

Breja: Exactly. I hate that question, so I always answer "Babylon 5".
A, yes. Definitely a good answer. I'd probably also answer TARDIS and David Tennant's Doctor Who.

blotunga: Yupp. B5 is one of the best scifi lore out there. I wonder why JMS hasn't managed some sort of reboot/sequel.
Honestly, I'd rather do without any reboots. B5 is still perfect the way it is. Nothing there that needs improving. As to sequels, all the spin-of/sequel attempts were not exactly going great, so I don't think we need that. And I'm actually one of the few people who didn't hate Crusade. But B5 is a closed story, perfect the way it is, not something that lends itself well to sequels and spin-offs.

A new Star Trek show would be much more welcome, that's a formula that lends itself perfectly to bringing in new crew and telling new stories.
