Gah, now this conflict has been made public I'm really anxious for updates.
The Steam versions didn't get pulled, what a surprise.

They are not available in there anymore .

Indeed, it would appear that Paul and Fred have moved to sending C&Ds to the stores.
Shame this got quiet all of a sudden. Guess we wait and see how this plays out.
Probably better than how it went for Starr Mazer DSP, but at least that got a happy ending.
I wish information like this would show up in a more prominent spot. I saw this by pure accident.

In the meanwhile I can only recommend Ur-Quan Masters and the blog of the original devs: https://dogarandkazon.squarespace.com/
Games returned for sale on Steam. GOG, not so much.
And now the Star Control games are back on GoG.

Of note, the Star Control Bundle has not returned for whatever reason.

I was fooled once when the games remained available on GOG after the 5th of December deadline, so I won't celebrate just yet. Surely somebody will make an announcement when the waters have cleared and a proper contract has been signed with GOG.

Maybe they reached an agreement? I know that Stardock bundling the old games with their new one was something that Fred and Paul seemed to take exception to.

You and Brad Wardell were both fooled.

draginol: As you may have noticed, the games are back on GOG.
Turned out the games just hadn't left yet at that point. I really hope they've come to an agreement anyway and I want to believe Fred and Paul had a case and weren't just making things up.

So this has happened now:

https://dogarandkazon.squarespace.com/blog/2018/2/22/stardock-claims-we-are-not-the-creators-of-star-control-sues-us-wtf

I was really hoping all had gone quiet because they'd come to some kind of agreement.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/02/star-control-countersuit-aims-to-invalidate-stardocks-trademarks/

However you feel about this disagreement, some of Stardock's "allegations" are bizarre.

"...Stardock, by virtue of owning the "Star Control" trademark, is due all of the "fame, reputation, and goodwill" directed by fans toward the Star Control games"

...that's not how things work. While Disney may get money from the original Star Wars films now by virtue of owning all the copyrights it doesn't magically rewrite the past and grant Disney credit for creating Star Wars. It's insane.

Coming up next in the Bizarro News:

Brad Wardell claims that he travelled back in time to create the Star Control series under the alias 'Fred Reiche III'.
