Gnostic: I should have a bunch of steam keys from the humble bundle, but I don't think I want to promote steam.

I have 2 GOG keys so I will give you that. Check your PM
We take them all if you're not interested in them. However, we'll certainly add your GOG titles to sweeten the pot. Thanks!

foxworks: Well, you could certainly host a giveaway of some kind. Or, if that doesn't appeal to you, Sachys and myself are just about to run this giveaway comprised completely of donated keys. Normally I wouldn't promote, but it seemed timely :D
Just noticed the link, +1 for the the neat idea, and impressive effort and collection of games.
I've been meaning to ask, was the Fall Insomnia Sale the first of the Insomnias?

It was amazingly good but the last one topped it. If there's a third any time soon it'll probably blow our brains out, which, personally speaking, I wouldn't mind.

Although it wasn't in the sale (it appeared as the Spring headbanger was winding to a close) I've been playing rather a lot of Clarc. Easy on the eyes and occasionally a strain on the gray matter, it really is worth a look. It has challenges aplenty and that essential of any must have game, the desire for just another go, oh please, just one more...

Nice to see a healthy number of familiar faces (and some new ones) are still here keeping the thread warm. The Spring event did something to us, you know that, don't you. Something really pretty good.

lugum: Yes.
Thank you, lugum. I was wondering because its nice to have been there at the start, and if they continue, which I'm sure they will, they'll now have that added element of tradition on top of the insane fun and crazy low prices. I'm already looking forward to it ;-)

I'm hoping the new tradition continues with more Insomnias. I understand these sales are somewhat divisive when it comes to folks' opinions, but no one can deny that they bring in lots of new folks and really energise the boards. Sure, sometimes it feels like that energy is being sucked directly from us, but that's part of what makes the experience so great. Bonding through a common hardship!

As it has been said before; nobody forces anybody to partake in those sales. You can always skip them, ask people to hold some keys for you, rely on the good old weekend sales or wait for the Summer and Chrsitmas sales. Now, if those were the only kind of sales, then yes, I would be pissed off too.

The hardship thing is a HUGE part of the deal for me - it really is an enjoyable pain! Probably because the rewards are significant. Yes, the great games at bargain basement prices, and even the duds are fun (don't mention HIS name!), but the biggest payback is the humanity we encounter and how much it tries to please, seemingly effortlessly. Its simple human fun but with real depth. There should be an Insomnia Sale every three months.

Game sale = Sinking of the Titanic?
Makes me look forward to the next one! ;-)

Who? Jack...
...Orlando?

Now that would make a pretty good game, if it hasn't been done already. The daft seventies disaster movie (I'm thinking Earthquake, Poseidon Adventure, Towering Inferno) translated into a new kind of survival game. Not very original, perhaps, but there are plenty of thrilling scenarios to play with, among other things (now I'm thinking about Victoria Principal in that yellow t-shirt scene...)

Hey, we all know there is only ONE Jack...

And with that I'll say goodnight (or morning - its 1.20am here and there's not even an Insomnia sale on!)

As much as the Insomnia is great in bonding people, it is not feasible to do it every three months.

GOG only have 753 games as of this post. doing 4 times a year means that more than half of their catalog is drawn upon.

At the third or forth year we may see that almost all the game is possessed by Keane killing the fun.

Insomnia promo can draw people in because there are a number of games they want to add into their library, if most of the game is already in their library, then little people will join the promo. Keane too much.

Unless...... Unless of course GOG can add 400 games to their catalog each year, but doing that may dilute the quality of the catalog hurting GOG and gamers in the long run.

There is only this number of good games turn out per year, and the current trend is much of the games comes out console only rather then PC.

Nah, too frequent not only to keep up with it, but also for it to maintain its special character and atmosphere in the long run. ;-)

Sorry to butcher your post but Romance of the 3 Kingdoms! Oh how I miss playing KOEI games. Rot3K 3 was the one I invested soooo much time into, and before that it was Nobunaga's Ambition 1 and/or 2 (memory a little sketchy on that one).

Oh and hiya Insomnia promo tracker people :) I'm almost getting nostalgic thinking back on the crazy fun that ensued in this thread :)
