Tarnicus: Yeah from my balcony. I've somehow accidentally turned the flash off so it doesnt take very good pictures with low light levels.

Red sky this morning and big glow around the moon the past 2 nights so we have heavy rain, possibly snow coming if it gets cold enough.

skimmie: That doesn't sound like very enjoyable weather... Good thing then we just had the promo, so you have enough games to keep you busy indoors :)
Well, it is Autumn going on winter over there.

But then, come Christmas, they'll be drinking white wine in the sun.

Stilton: The Fall Insomnia even was great, no doubt about it. But the one we have just lived through was mighty.
Agree heartily with this, and really your whole post. (You sucked too, ya big stinky wedge of fromage d'Viking.)

I really didn't think this Insomnia could trump the last one, and expected to be apologising profusely for trying to bring it back. But amazingly it was better. GOG ran it much more smoothly, the freebies were handled in a much fairer manner, and they tweak the game amounts generally for best effect.

Even more amazing was how much better the community involvement was too. I don't recall smiling and laughing as much last time as I did this round, pretty much solidly for the whole week. Some of that may have been picking the right thread. Face, official News Thread! ;)

It is sobering now to go away for a while and not have 50 pages of posts to catch up on. But a Bacchanalia is best precisely because it's an occasional indulgence. Let's all rest up and meet in a thread like this again in six months. (hint, GOG, hint!)

Tekkaman-James: Well, before I step away from this thread for the first time that isn't sleep-related, I thought I would share a little something I made. It took minimal effort, to be sure, but I still thought you guys might like it.
Very nice! :D Thank you for taking the time to do that, it's a lovely memento for this sale. ^^

Stilton: A day or two before this year's event closed I was thinking to myself, as wonderful as the Fall event was, this is even better. More enthusiasm, more sharing, more energy, more delight in winning a freebie, more humour and more excitement watching and waiting for that often painfully slow moving orange worm to disappear into its hole and reveal the next game to us. Rounds one, two and three had such a different feel, from frenzy to stock taking and finally to the relaxed and good-natured comfort of shooting the breeze and sharing thoughts with people who had become considerably more than acquaintances. It was like a party where only our minds and personalities were present, where I could almost feel the music and hear the laughter. From initial awkwardness upon arrival to feeling sad that it couldn't continue as the inevitable end came, it was an experience where the games, the catalyst which brought us together, became, at the close, secondary to simply sharing the pleasure of the occasion and to making the most of it for as long as it lasted.

The Fall Insomnia even was great, no doubt about it. But the one we have just lived through was mighty.

Thank you all, and may your games be a fond and long lasting reminder of just how special these few days were.
What a wonderful way of summarizing this event, thank you for this lovely post. :) I thought when I saw the first round list that I wouldn't participate too much this time, since there were so few games I was interested in. But the fond memories of the Fall Insomnia drew me in, and I found myself tracking the sale despite my initial resolution. Even though I've lurked more than I've actually participated in this thread, I very much enjoyed the spirit of this Insomnia nonetheless, and I wish to thank every one again for the lovely atmosphere and the awesome energy and dedication.

So, no matter how much it messes with our sleep, here's to another Insomnia sale! Cheers! :D

Look at the bright side; you no longer have to get annoyed for being sent back 5+ pages whenever you make a new post.
PS - A big thanks to CarrionCrow and Novotnus for stepping up to the pillory, I mean plate, with these new Insomnia wishlist entries:

Hehe the chance of snow is rare but does happen here and it can rain a lot. This is the first house Ive lived in up here without a fireplace, and I am finding that very challenging. I'm about to walk down to the other house (I'm looking after the dog and cat there) and collect firewood so my girlfriend and I can stay there tonight, nice and warm compared to here :)

Grargar: 25 notifications?! How can you stand them?

Tarnicus: Those are for game updates :)
I had only one of those yesterday... and that almost drove me crazy.

I haven't downloaded a few of the updated games in a while :)

LynetteC: If there was one thing I'd like to change about the freebies this time around, it would be to be able to choose a gift code even if you don't already own the game, rather than it being dropped straight onto your shelf.
At some point it was possible to choose the gift code, so I guess it will be like that (from the start) in the next Insomnia (pretty sure there will be one/many). :)

Others have said better than I could how awesome this experience was.
What the hell... after a day of work - and seeing the finals of german soccer
i thought i come back at this place of honour and fun and now quietness to pour me a glass of wine and slowly read the fun and wisdom in the last 40 pages not yet checked because of my comasleep this night
and yet it gets still more and more..
i will now pour me a glass of white russian and a big cup of pure coffein just to have the same effect as the last three nights and read veeery slowly so it takes maybe another 2 nights

Did anyone pick up a gift code for Blade of Darkness. After much hemming and hawing, this line of ad copy pushed me over the edge:

"If you have a craving for a bloodbath, then Blade of Darkness is for you! Chop off the limbs of your enemies and beat them to death with their own arm or leg! "

Sure, I crave a bloodbath, why not.

I have keys galore from past Humble Bundle insanity, so please PM me if you'd like to trade.
What's funny about this sale is I came to play games and ended being a part of the forum community. It was more than a sale, it was an event.

Blade of Darkness is an excellent and overlooked gem. It does many things right, and it even has something that distantly resembles footwork. Every fencing game should implement some kind of footwork, even the old Prince of Persia Had it. Conversely, games like Rune or Chivalry are inferior in comparison because they allow you to run in all directions and swing independently. That's not how fencing works.

Rhythm, lunges and footwork. Blade of darkness almost has them.

Moreover, it is one of the first games that had truly dynamic shadows.

8/10
