Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Get this game guys. You can shoot half naked women with lightning bolts and watch them explode and fly through the air.
After Populous finishes the total sales will have exceeded $220,000.

Buenro-games: Sorry GOG but you messed up the freebie promotion HORRIBLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some people have been bragging about getting over 10 free games (even duplicates of same game) and most of us just watching that stupid bear if we are lucky.

Sorrry GOG but make it better next time around.
I respect your right to voice your opinion, but I still disagree. While it does seem suspect that a single GOG user could get 10 free games, we also live in a world where one person or couple has won 2-3 lotteries worth millions of dollars each. So, it seems that a similar strike of fortune would be possible even during this event.

Chevette: But you can adjust the camera... it just takes a lot of fiddling with the settings. A lot of fiddling. Lot. of....

Also I think there are mods for the game to help with the camera. NWN2 is a good game. (So is NWN1)

Stoltverd: I fiddled with the config file and it wasn't enough. I had to download a couple of mods + ingame fiddling + config file to get it nice and working
Yeah, the camera was annoying. But the game and the Persistent Worlds people made for the game were great.

Cardian: GoG should probably have made it so that you can only get one free game in the sale. That way, people might actually look at what they click because they might get the chance to get something they actually like.
avatar
zlep: Nah, wouldn't work. It's like a cat with a piece of waving grass. Gamers are genetically programmed to click on anything that says FREE.

For what it's worth, the one game I got free was Retro City Rampage. It came up; I read the title; I thought "Yes, I'd like that"; I moved the mouse to the button and I pressed. WIN. Anything I quick-clicked on got the bear or a non-response page. While insta-clicking is probably the best strategy for those with really good reflexes and ping times, I suspect it can also push the server over capacity, leaving the door open for the occasional considered click.
Or its just dumb luck, I tried that too.... Of course got nothing

Stoltverd: Populos is selling slowly? With that discount? WTF???? Only young gamers here on GOG now?
I'm not really into that kind of game anymore...as far as strategy games I'd like to snag up Zeus+Poseiden.

RandomJC: What the bloody hell is Populous?
avatar
mantarrochen: Actually, this is Populous 3.
Which is the best one imo :)
I also have a promo;)
Anyone interested in Titan Attacks! for 3$ on Steam?:)
I bought Populous the Beginning, because I got the original Populous free from the Origin sale, but I find such old DOS-games to be uplayable. I'm really a Good little-bit-Old Gamer, I like games from the Windows 98 and later era the most.

Buenro-games: You are too young, son.

RandomJC: Hey...I am not...I just didn't touch much PC in the 90s. I was seduced by the Consoles.
BUUUUURN HIM!
BURN THE CONSOLE HEATHEN!
Really, burn him... How did you pass up the end of the golden age?

Tumichnix: No is total crap! But thx for buying and reducing my waiting time ;-D
i was about to buy until there was a knock at the door and it was gone when i got back, well bought enough this week to last months and always the Christmas sale

Fezred: Another couple of console RPGs I found worth playing (and replaying) was Suikoden 1 & 2. Now those really are worth your five bucks on GOG.com.
avatar
xenxander: I have both of those for PSX, and the 3rd one for PS2.

They are quite hard to find, nowadays.
I think maybe they went out of print before people realised just what they had missed. Then it was too late. I've got the two on PSX thankfully, but I'd like them available on a system like this place as discs aren't invincible and replacements hard to come by. S2 was a worthy sequel, they tried to do +1 on everything they did before. Also nice touch that they let you transfer a saved game across.

mondo84: After Populous finishes the total sales will have exceeded $220,000.
GOG takes 30 percent of that.. so they have made 66k.

Some goes into Paypal and visa/mastercard transaction fees, and the remainder goes to the developers.
