Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

The Book of Unimpressive Sales is still going?
This is painful. I came prepared to buy ~$50 USD worth of 'product' and so far have spent nothing. Depending on how the sales go, it might stay that way.

Piranha2004: Thanks for The Witcher 1. Is there supposed to be a way to redeem the game via Steam also?
avatar
pbnjoe: Only the second, I believe.

Edit: Nvm: http://www.gog.com/witcher/backup

Edit Edit: It only works in reverse. I'm tired.
Ah yeah. No probs.

you came in late...things are gunna be slower now - just the way it is...though I do think they ought to have a while quantities last or 15 min time limit - whatever comes first...

NadirGQ: So, what game are you guys hoping pop up next?
Deus Ex, Two Worlds 2 and Icewind Dale. That'd be swell.

Already got Planescape, Never Winter Nights 2 and Jade Empire. :D

I'm not sure I want to spend more money now, I got 5 games and am almost satisfied.

I want to complete the Thief trilogy though, still need Thief 3: Deadly Shadows (if so, it can replace my Steam version and I can play it DRM-free).

Games that are tempting as well are Sacred Gold, Wargame:European Escalation and Two Worlds.

Yeah, I have a feeling that unless it's Icewind Thief-Nexus II for $0.99, everything's gonna move slowly now. Everyone's exhausted, frustrated, and/or out of money.
I think we just hit the perfect storm moment when ANY game is going to go slow. ie time to wake up in the UK and time to go to sleep in the US. Believe it's just gone midnight in LA?

Awhh I'm sorry the flash sale has been so rough, this is GOG's first try at one. GOG does do two sales every week, normally. One Gem Promo which is a singular game, and one group sale of a particular developer/publisher/theme. There will also be two major sales coming up, the Black Friday sale and the Winter Holidays sale. Last year the Winter Holidays sale went all through December and included a DND bundle which was all the DND games for like 80% off.
I wonder how much time would 600 copies of Witcher 1 would need to be sold!

No, you see...I came in -yesterday-. Not only that, but I had shit luck for the games I wanted to buy. One just ran out of 'stock' when I was checking out, and the other got borked because of a server issue. Passed out, woke up and here I am. Again. Waiting. *sighs*

Can I highly recommend the Witcher 2 to your list if you don't have it?

...me, just want Thief 2 & Icewind Dale (and just maybe Wing Commander 4) - already got lots of goodies.

If it was like $2, it would fly out of here. Even though so many people own it already.

It is indeed 12:16 am on the West Coast. Which puts it at 3:16 am on the East. What time is it over there in the UK?
