Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Skunked again!
They cannot resist forever. The longer they hold Insomnia in abeyance, the more mighty it becomes.
Hope so.
No insomnia, no party.
It's a Kind of Magic....
Well, I've been moving this week and looks like I missed most of it.

But my question is, did I miss Age of Wonders III?

Well, you're only about two years late for this sale. ;)

If you want to check out what's been on sale this time around, you can take a look at the tracking thread.

Well... I just assumed the top thread about a fall insomnia sale would be it... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

This thread resurfaces from time to time. Which is actually quite annoying, because it always makes me feel super excited for a second before I realize it's just the old thread and we're not really getting another insomnia sale.

Looks like your game indeed showed up, but it might return before the end of the sale.
BEST. THREAD. EVAR.

Quite a lukewarm non-insomnia Fall Sale so far. Sure, some good deals, but nothing of the OMFG-gotta-get-this-now quality that only insomnia can bring. Here's hoping for some bona fide Winter Insomnia Sale. All hail Keane!!!
A couple of questions. ^^
Around which time of the year does the Insomnia sale start ? Some folks speculated it would take place a couple of days ago, but then the fall sale began, so normally it starts around this time ?

"Everyone" is comparing other gog sales to the Insomnia sales and say "meh, Insomnia is/was way better"...is it really that good ?

The first Insomnia sale started on 13 November 2013. If I'm not mistaken, there were other 2 Insomnia sales, one of them during Spring. I think there is still time for an Insomnia, at the end of November, but I doubt it will happen.

The Insomnia sale format is somewhat like this: Grim Fandango is the only game sold at 80% discount, only 500 copies. After all 500 copies are sold then 800 copies of Monkey Island are sold at 75% discount, then 300 copies of Commandos .... and so on.

Usually the discount rates are high.

The first Insomnia was most fun, the sale was a game in itself, people speculating how much it will take for an unwanted game to go away, so they could see the next game.

Person A - Oh, 300 copies of Sacred 2. I think it will take a while, I'm going to the bathroom.

Person B - 300 copies of Sacred 2 gone in a fraction of a second.
Person C - ..or less.

Person A - What the hell, what did I miss?
Person C - Heroes 2, 500 copies, 75% off.
Person A - Noooo, I was waiting for Heroes 2. Why did my bladder betray me?
Person B - Also Chaos Engine was free, 30 copies I think, but I didn't manage to grab one.
Person A - Oh crap.

Heh, I miss Insomnia.

You could love it or hate it.
Thanks a lot for the explanation GabiMoro. :)
I like the idea of it and now I know why its called Insomnia sale. :)

Additionally the forum was full of life during that sale, since many people were online waiting for the next deal.
It's no coincidence that this thread is so huge and still active.

So GOG let the next Insomnia Sale begin!!! :-)
