Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

mondo84: All the Jack Keane 2 reviews are still up. :p
Why should they be taken down? These are user reviews written and posted by actual human users.

During the Insomnia sale, Jack Keane 2 came on promo in the quickflash sale however it was priced quite a bit higher than most games in the sale and so had far less interest from gamers than games selling for $1.50-3 or so in the sale. Since the sale froze on one game until all units sold, and there were quite a few copies of Jack Keane 2 that needed to sell, the game inadvertently stalled the "quick" part of "quickflash" for 7 hours. This caused a lot of commotion as people wanted to move on to the next game and from a combination of impatience, humour, and sarcasm Jack Keane 2 became the brunt of many jokes for hours.

In an effort to attempt to help the game sell more quickly, quite a few people who never played the game before turned to the Jack Keane 2 game page and began writing game reviews for the game to attempt to paint it in a good light. GOG's reviews for this game are flooded with positive but completely fake and thus misleading reviews for this game, but most of them are written in a manner which is hard to distinguish from a genuine positive review.

Under the premise that fake reviews of a game are misleading to potential game purchasers, many people feel these fake reviews should be taken down as they do not represent the views of people who have actually played the game legitimately. Technically I'm inclined to agree, but the problem is there's no easy way for anyone to decide conclusively what review(s) are legitimate and which are fake. Furthermore, there's nothing stopping anyone from adding fake positive or negative reviews to any game at any time, so it's a difficult problem to solve really.

Personally, I don't bother reading the GOG reviews as the review system is pretty broken in the current state. I use metacritic instead, and only then as one of many data points in my own purchase decision making.

I don't necessarily think they should be taken down, but since most of the reviews were facetiously written during the insomnia sale, I thought GOG might remove them. I don't mind either way.
it would be good for gog but there is little problem with our planet. its spheric, rotating, and in concrete time, half of it sleeps :-)

in short - potencially unfair.

I haven't been here for a while so I was wondering if anyone knows if the facts and figures we were promised on the Insomnia Sale have been published yet and if so does anyone know on what page?
