Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

But only very slowly.
Anyone still sitting on a Monkey Island spare?Earlier someone mentioned that the finale of the sale should be that each one gets to select one game he missed from the sale.Think that is a great idea.

Unless it was said in blue text I wouldn't believe it.
They should have given 500 pits and 500 more Thief and Jades
Finally this nightmare is over and Im going to bed now. I need to quit my job tomorrow so I can play all the games I bought in the last 4 days.
Farewell good hunters.

Chandoraa: If He intended it to be, then it most certainly is. Otherwise, I'm respectfully calling bullshit on your statement ;).

Revenile: It's more strongly hinted at than official:
From Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega:

“Shinra is a boy who supports the Gullwings, the group which the main protagonist, Yuna, belongs to. He carries a name that gives him an association to the Shin-Ra Company, and he is researching a method that could utilize the energy of "the life force that flows through our planet." The results of this cannot be seen in FFX-2, but maybe one day his descendants will establish a "company that supplies the energy of the planet"?”

In the Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania, Kazushige Nojima said the following:
“After quitting the Gullwings, Shinra received enormous financial support from Rin, and began trying to use Vegnagun to siphon Mako Energy from the Farplane. But, he is unable to complete the system for utilizing this energy in his generation, and in the future, when traveling to distant planets becomes possible, the Shin-Ra Company is founded on another world, or something like that....... That would happen about 1000 years after this story, I think.”
I do think it's a cool theory, and it would even make some sense, but it seems pretty obvious to me that the reference's only goal was to reclaim some respect from the series' veterans, who were already getting disgruntled. As far as I'm concerned, that reference doesn't appear in FFX, and the game where it does appear is effectively non-canonical.

Interesting fact to support my point: It was stated at the time that Vagrant Story happened in Ivalice hundreds of years after the events of Final Fantasy Tactics. Apparently the creator of both those games has been known to claim that it was never his intention for them to be linked in any way. Then they went and claimed the Ivalice gimmick again for FFXII. Squenix is so desperate to get back the old fans that they're forgetting to make their games any good.

Yeah.It was just a hopeful speculation.

oh, the horror!
Time to go to sleep. Finally I can't buy Thief 2.
Okay gang, I need Thief III. I've got Plainscape, Witcher 2, King of Dragon Pass, Jade Empire, and Thief Gold. Any takers? Send me a PM.
OK. I'm done. Bed time.
I bought 12, missed 3.
Great sale and awesome community.
Good night and good luck.

Games are falling all around me
GoGers buying having fun
It's the season of love and understanding
Merry Keaning everyone
Still waiting for a last freebie at the end of the sale ^^ And I also have to make some work for the university so I can combine it :P Btw. Anybody got a copy of Deus Ex GotY he is willing to gift or trade for?
A short reminder. The games that, according to the round pattern, should go up (in unknown order, maybe with a freebie in the middle) after tSoS:tP are:

Expeditions: Conquistador for $4.99
Psychonauts for $2.49
Spellforce Platinum for $2.49
Thief 2: Metal Age for $1.99

The Pit moves on at snail's pace, as you can clearly see. I wouldn't be surprised if one or two other games pause the show too.

Given I'm not really interested in games Conquistador and Spellforce, and I own others, I'm considering taking a nap. However, this whole madness will probably end with something special for those logged in. So, uh... what to do now?

nijuu: Cheap shit coffee is about $2 here LOL
Many have pointed out variability in the price of coffee as a failing of the ubiquitous "measure in coffees" method. Still doesn't stop people doing it. :-)

After all, owning your own home is only the cost of a coffee per day (for many many many decades)...
