Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

wanderlust76: Was Thief Gold and HOMM3 sold in sequence? That's lame they should have put a Keaner like sword of stars in between them a lot of people were just getting settled in for the night when those other 2 sold. Now we get stare at this game the entire evening with nothing to look forward to.

keef0723: Not consecutively if i remember rightly. Also there was 1050 copies of HoMM3
Yeah wasn't Jade Empire in there too though? That's 3 games a lot of people were looking for all around the same time. Now this game will tie up the entire rest of the night and a lot of people will come on here ticked lol.
Hi thread. First time poster, long time follower... Been watching this sale since the beginning, and wanted to say thank you to you all for keeping me company while waiting (sometimes very patiently) for the games I wanted to go on sale.

Missed out on I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, SS2, and Thief 3 each time they came around because of sleep/work. However, did manage to score NWN 1&2, Two Worlds II, Miasmata, Myst, Thief Gold, and Nexus. Trying to stick it out and get Thief 2, then call it quits.

As for Jade Empire.. has anyone installed it and got it to run yet? I own it on Steam from a year or so ago, and it took a few tricks to get it to work on my Windows 7 64-bit PC. Was wondering if anyone's had any issues with the GOG version.

Again... thank you all for posting and being entertaining! You guys seem like a good crowd.

UncleOvid: Or just have a 1~2 per account limit. That's a lot simpler.

Knofbath: Hard to implement.
Really? I confess, I don't know anything about programming, but it seems to me like a pretty straightforward algorithm.

Rarehunter_idol: Is The Pit worth grabbing at that price sans the DLC, or should I just hold off for a future sale of the Gold edition?
avatar
nijuu: Less than price of a coffee. neither DLC has been discounted *yet*
Y'all drink some expensive coffee

thorton70: It's been bundled a few times and it might currently be in one at the moment I think. I have it from the Starry Nights Bundle from the summer.
avatar
nijuu: Only seems to have been bundled once. That IR bundle. Nowhere else. So im still stumped

Haven't followed Sword that much(although i just bought it, but only to trade)....wasn't there recently a bit of a hick up/debate about the base game, dlc Gold thingy?Might have left people confused and this is the aftershock.

Oh hmm, I thought I saw it on reddit but that is actually a link to GOG. Yeah, guess just that one. It's a pretty decent game, I like it, if anyone's thinking of grabbing it, it is worth picking it.

zlep: In another thread (on that topic) The Enigmatic T suggested that not everyone who's said they'd scored multiples actually *has*. Apparently GOG has been checking for accounts winning a surprising amount of freebies to ensure that the system isn't being abused by scripts. The user TET checked had claimed in the forums to have won tonnes, but actually hadn't won any. He also said GOG has no evidence of scripts in use, but is looking into it.

Of course, I daresay some people have won multiples, and that there probably are unfair factors at play somewhere, but it seems some of the reported wins may be nothing but trolling...

UncleOvid: Lying? On the Internet? I don't believe it.
LOL. Actually it had never occurred to me that someone would lie about *winning games*. Naive, I know.

Now that I think about it, I can see it - getting attention and provoking dissent can both be appealing for some people.

AttObl: I might be interested in Expeditions: Conquistador, but there's no demo... :(
Very Oregon Trail. Many situations you'll find yourself in where there's almost no hope. Good writing. Fairly rough graphics and layout. If it's cheap enough, you might enjoy it.

True. I must confess to a severe case of schadenfreude in internet feels though :)
