Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

swarmandal: I managed to miss Torment, Neverwinter Nights, and especially Neverwinter Nights 2... 4 days of being glued to the computer for nothing. :(

Oh well, I still had fun hanging out with all of you pleasant chaps on the forums. :)
4 days glued and you managed to missed all three? You are truly one unlucky chap :)

Alien8n: Oh agreed, but it's just one of those internet things. It was so bad when it was selling it kind of sticks and becomes the reference for all other slow selling games. From then on it's into the annals of internet folklore and away we go :)

Plus it stopped everyone from going insane (well, more insane) from sleep deprivation over the weekend :)

dedoporno: Actually that was the first time I learned to appreciate these offers. For the last 40 or so hours I found myself hoping for a slow-seller just to get some shuteye, some other work done or get out of the house for a while. These titles have their use, also :)
Sometimes :)

I'm going to ping a couple of ideas to the devs which hopefully they'll be able to incorporate in a later sale. When you're still sat watching the screen on a Monday afternoon then you know something is wrong with the sale mechanics
Thank you for all the laughs, the shared frustrations, the great tips and advice, the bad jokes, the generosity, and the sleeplessness...

Take care GOG community, good luck getting the games of your dreams for dirt cheep...

See you in a few days, once I've caught up on some sleep, and played some of my hard-won goodies...

G'night!

Well guys, the sale is coming to a close and I think we have all gotten more than a few cheap game (or rather a few games for cheap)

We had a poet and even a few dictionary amendments. Hope to see you guys around for the Christmas Insomnia Sale.

Enjoy the countless hours clearing the backlog (or the shuteye).

live Keany and prosper :)
Okay... So it has come under my attention that I missed NVN:DE and Thief 3 :'(. Is there ANYONE out there who perhaps managed to get two copies of these games? I will gladly be willing to trade them for games of similar price. Please, please PM me if you are either kind or interested.

If I had to live "Keany" I would never get anywhere.

cjc7: Glad you like the game, may I clarify my intention for you ? I refer to the quality of patience, as symbolized by the wait we experienced. Not trying to offend your choice of games.

dedoporno: Oh, I don't like it so much, it's just not that bad of a game. I'm sure many people worked hard for it and just want to give them at least some credit for it. Don't get me wrong. I'm OK with using it as a byword for slow-selling and in-the-way offer, because that it was. I just don't think it is sensible to judge it as a game without even trying it.
I would totally agree with you , if I thought that were the case. I have been here since round one with some sleep breaks and I don't recall anyone, not any post at all, trashing the game or developers, and in fact, as memory serves the dev's of the game actually were on the forum and joking over the situation themselves. I truly wish the game well and I hope that possibly there may be enough curiosity in the game to actually boost it's sale. Better for all , should that turn out to be the case, and stranger things than that have happened. But , I appreciate your point of view and hope that someday you will tell me that JK2 is , if fact, such a great game that I would then want it for myself. We shall see.

To that I agree. One thing to note here is that the majority of the important games have already passed, there is not so much left. I believe a lot of people stick around because of the momentum gained (including myself) and the fun on the forum. I'm sure lots are lurking to "score" some gifts, just because the community here is generally very welcoming and ready to offer help.

I already got all that I intended to buy, but stick around to take part in the forum discussions and to cover for my pal Soccorro (promised to get Thief 2 for him if he's not around).
Ahh yes, Puddle. The Keaning is strong with this one.
ok i give in i have bought a puddle....and tomorrow i am going to buy a raindrop and then a splash the day after
Back at the comp at least partially, and looks like gaming gods favour me, as Jade Empire is still forthcoming. I just wish that it makes its appearance when I'm duly seated in front of the screen, because I fear it will sell out fast.
Goood, GOOOOOD! Feel the Keane inside of you, join us on the Keane side.

You don't know the meaning of Keane. You should have witnessed it in it's full glory.

Not that we ever will, but I'd love to know exactly the effect this has on Jack Keane's future sales. The name is now very well known among a lot of people who would never have heard of the title. Many will appreciate that game quality wasn't the sole influencer of sales speed, so even as they use the "Jack Keane meme" they're not really holding it against the series. They're now potential future buyers. Others *will* see it as an indicator that Jack Keane 2 is the worst game in the world, up there with Big Rigs. Not only will they not buy; they may spread that idea to potential buyers, harming sales.

I'd like to think that the sales benefits from the former group will outweigh the latter. Tales of the Keaning have been the source of much entertainment over the last few days, and a sanity saver amid the sleep-deprivation. It would be sad to see Jack Keane suffer from that community service.
