Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

SpiderFighter: Ok guys n gals, that's it for me. Bed time. Could someone please take over the lists for me? I'd be very much appreciative, as I'm sure any incoming GOGgers will be as well.

stevekharon: I will for a while and ask the same when I leave.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. :)

Good night, all. It's been a blast hanging and banging with you all!

The Tropico series has good gameplay, but it also has some ongoing sexism problems. I can never figure out if they're doing it because they think it fits thematically or if some of the devs are just really clueless.
Overslept, as you could expect from someone severely sleep-deprived from hours of keaning.
What did i miss between Theme Hospital and La Mulana?
Alright, back from my MRI (at 6am in the morning, blarg...), did I miss I have no mouth?

Edit: Ah, ok, I see I didn't.

nijuu: wow all these potential NWN1 and Jade Empire buyers dropping off......

Tropico 3. Good game.
To be fair, both NWN and JE are going to be in other sales with at least 60% off discounts.

Schemilix: I dunno, a lot can be said for putting niche, obscure or taboo topics into the mainstream, but frankly I think the people pioneering that to an ignorant audience need to be a member of that group. It's why in the 80s feminist books were written by women. Not because men cant be feminists, but because back then only women really understood the struggle of being a woman. Many more men understand the topic now.

Trans issues? You'd want to get a trans author to tackle that in fiction. Same for anything of that sort. You need someone who really understands to bring it to people who really don't, I think. It's why the portrayal of homosexuals in media can bother me sometimes. In British media it's usually fine, but in American media it's just as often sensationalised and that's as problematic as treating it as taboo; homosexuals, bisexuals, pansexuals etc. - we're just people.

And the same goes to a lesser extent for BDSM. If you're going to tackle such a topic, have a fucking brain. Don't trick thousands of people into thinking their stupid abusive version of BDSM is what normal, safe-sane-consensual people do. Yeesh.

GhostwriterDoF: Well, I'm not saying it should be hidden away either, and the whole "sexual identity" is a beyond me. I understand that those who are, and have been oppressed because of their lifestyle, or because they were born with a developmental process that makes them attracted to what-ever gender feel a need to push back, if only to be left alone.

I'm just feeling there is more to life and more to us, as people, than sex, that no matter our personal preferences, or who we are dating shouldn't and doesn't make us who we are.... As far as gay folks, they seem like regular folk to me, like anyone else... and in Southern California we have all manner of GLBT people running 'round.
Yeah it's a fine line. On the one hand yes it doesn't define you. On the other it's sort of important since for people who are sexually active, it is a part of your life, and as humans, sex is often a big part. So it does shape you, as many other factors of your being, lifestyle and such shape you. So to simply say that queer people don't need to be represented or fought for because there's no issue is a problem. It's the notion that heterosexuals don't have the right to define what other people are or are not, whether they mean well or not.

Identity erasure happens, too. I think people do put too much stock in the sexual orientations of others, and of themselves indeed. But it does have an influence. I mean, the man, woman or other in your life, they're pretty important.

snip3rfire: Alarmed at how slow Tropico 3 is going.

I've just bought it myself thinking it would be a popular one amongst the community.
Tropico is a popular series, it's just one that most people have played or own on other platforms. It's a great alternative to the new SimCity.

thing is, there is no guarantee they will be at same discounts though
Listening to "You can leave your hat on" by Joe Cocker while I'm waiting for my Jade. Now if I could just get someone to dance while I wait... I'm thinking more along the lines of "Nine and a half weeks" than "The full monty" :)
