Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

wanderlust76: I liked only controlling one guy in NWN ... I'm OCD in D&D games when it comes to building a character so if I only have one guy to worry about I save a lot of stress on myself lol. It takes 5 years, 4 months and 2 hours to build a party in IWD1 partially because it's so easy to gimp a party.

MysterD: But, that's the thing I liked about BG series - 6 party members at your disposal to fully-control. It was fun and strategic for me. I know, I know - it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

Yes, I do understand NWN1: Original Campaign was purposely built for you to control one-guy - but that was kind of why the combat didn't often seem as exciting and as interesting as what BG1+2 did; especially since NWN was a game stuck in a somewhat real-time mixed w/ underpinning of a turn-based system that has so-called "dice-rolls." Then tackle onto that the lack of control of my "companion" and their Inventory; and the rushed job the Ancient Race story had - NWN: OC disappointed me. Yeah, I was much more disappointed in NWN: OC than I was w/ DA2.
Well the path-finding is an issue with those large party D&D games you do have to admit that. Games like M&M do not have this problem of course. I'm not against party system RPG's I just think I would rather play with other people online or an MMO type deal.

Well, better than 0. I'll wait until Postal 2: Complete Keaning Edition sells out. After that, probably off to bed :)

Not sure what you mean. That party members sometimes take a very strange route to the place you're clicking and trigger a bunch of traps and manage to pull a bunch of monsters to you on the way?

That's more an issue of the game camera and terrain complexity as far as I can see. NWN1 didn't have these problems because the terrain was much more simple and straight forward and the camera was locked on your main character, meaning it doesn't have to calculate a difficult path to some place far away..

Oh, yeah - any games w/ AI, path-finding is often ranging from "meh" to "terrible."

I can understand wanting to play w/ other players and all - but often, I'd just rather play offline and alone.
I so hope that Postal 2 sells out in the next 10 mins. I need some sleep
Most of the games left should sell pretty fast.
Still waiting on Thief Gold and Thief 2.

Also, wanderlust76, check your pms... pm's.

Draggon: Quit breaking the forums! :D

THE LIST

What's Left?!?
Good evening all. Finally back, and much to my relief according this latest list I could find neither Assassin's Creed nor La Mulana went. Whew!

On the plus (or minus if a break was desired), Omerta time arrived. Just curious - how long was it up for grabs?
Anyone has an spare copy of Megabyte Punch?
Great, I slept through Baldurs Gate, Icewindale, Planescape, Space Colony.... :(
