Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

Chaosdrache92: Can anyone make a list , which games was in last 3 hours ago ?

i hope i didnt miss sacred ...
You missed Sacred
Ok, I give up. Things to do, places to go, people to kill.

Looks like no NWN for me. But thanks for the ride, GoG. Happy I at least got Anvil of Dawn and Sacred Gold cheap.

Why, oh why does GoG not allow logins on my android phone?

Eh, if you tell me (us?) what is that :|
Frikkin heck, neither of my games has gone through yet, so the system either wants me to buy them or it wants you lot to buy them for me while I sleep LOL

FreDDaN: I wanna go and play some games like Batman Arkham City or Risk of Rain, but I'm too afraid I miss the deals I want.
Do what I do... play in windowed mode and use OnTopReplica (http://ontopreplica.codeplex.com/) to keep an eye on the sale.

I have decided to buy the Resonance. First, you guys have a problem with show-stoppers, second, I recently got into older point-and-clicks.

That said it doesn't seem to be doing that bad so far. That sad, Don't Starve has shown us that this means nothing. That said...

CorranHorn: No not another title that many probably owns (I own it here on Humble Bundle).
avatar
Shendue: I don't remember Resonance ever being on Humble Bundle. I would have, which i don't.
I got Resonance in some kind of bundle sale, too, along with Blackwell and Gemini Rue. But I think it was some sort of GoG sale and no Humble Bundle.
Planescape Tornment was in the Last Chance?

P.S.
Sorry for any language issue;)

Faenwulf: This sale made me realise how many adventures there are on Gog.
I really hate adventures. No patience for them.
Well the 80s/early 90s were a brillinat time for adventures, even though most of the games are not even on GOG.

johnnygoging: I've just learned recently that steam has drm-free titles in the sense that some titles don't enforce the drm, which is really good. and yes, drm sucks, but steam has a lot on offer besides that drm, the excellent prices not the least. I still prefer gog of course, but I think that sometimes the some of the stuff towards steam and especially humble bundle can be going too far.

groze: I have absolutely *nothing* against Humble Bundles. Nor against Steam -- or, should I say, the people that choose to use Steam, since I do not endorse Steam myself.

Humble Bundles are great chances to get great games cheap, and that's a good thing, not a bad one, at least in my book. The problem is that more often than not the games you get from the Bundles are Steam copies, and, like I said, though I have absolutely nothing against those who use Steam, I'm not keen on their services and I openly choose not to use them. That's just me, it's my prerogative and I think I'm entitled to it.

The reasons I don't use Steam are mainly the fact that I live outside the US in a country in which Steam doesn't do currency exchange (a game may cost $3 on Steam and $4 on GOG, but the GOG copy is actually cheaper for me because I'd have to pay €3 for the Steam game and only €2-ish for the GOG one), I'm actively against DRM, even if it is "light" DRM such as the one Steam forces upon its consumers, and, most of all, I like *owning* my games, as opposed to *renting* them, and Steam games are not yours even though you pay for them. Every single game I bought here on GOG is mine to keep and do whatever I please with it.

Also, regarding that last couple of sentences, did you know the EU Court passed a law deeming *renting services to play games and not actually selling them to the customers* illegal? That's right, and there's already one impending lawsuit against Steam forming in Germany, that I know of, and several smaller cases of that happening locally, here in Portugal.
Yes, regional pricing is one of the bones with Steam and it's crap what aussies have to put up with in that regard. And that's one of the reasons I like gog.

But as for the law you mentioned. That's good, I guess, on face of things. But "renting" isn't exactly digital distribution. And anything regarding "renting" can be argued to be different than "licensing". Keep in mind that there's more than one reason to pass laws and history has shown that lots of different people can pass laws for various reasons.

That sounds to me more like an attempt to squeeze out little smaller renting services so that what they do is now illegal. This forces people to get games from retail outlets or directly from publishers via big online distributors. Or it could be an attempt by the brick and mortar guys to keep themselves as the dominant distribution method.

Lawsuits against Steam? Do you think there would be lawsuits against EA and Origin or Uplay? Sounds to me like an attempt to take advantage of a smaller organization, or again, something locally motivated be retailers in Germany.

If Origin or Uplay were ever to become larger in their userbase, to the point they could cause trouble, that would be really bad for us. So Steam, if anything, protects us to a degree from Origin and EA and Uplay and Ubisoft.
