Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

Uzur9: For those that have played Sacred 2 how is it compared to the first ?
I have Sacred 2 for XBOX 360. Me, I think Sacred 2 is a different type of beast when compared to 1. It is definitely a better get-in and play. You also have to be a lot more careful with making stats for characters. The graphics also look a bit more cartoonish/colorful. But the game is huge, a lot of quests, and much replayability. However, there is a lot I like about Sacred 1 that I wished would have been salvaged for part 2. Sacred 1 seemed more serious in tone. There is a lot of sarcasm and wit in Sacred 2. Also, Sacred 1 seems more like an old fashioned type of game that reminds me of Baldur's Gate or Diablo. With Sacred 2, it reminds me more of just an online/offline RPG. It definitely has a lot more quests. Some love Sacred 2, others hate it. I am glad I have it in my collection. It is just a very fun game after you get past the first hour or so, but that's just me...

Oh yeah, for a console game, I like the controls a lot, it is also a very good alternative for online RPGs, something that is a rarity amongst consoles, sadly...

JohnnyDollar: Do you get an error? Sorry if you already stated this.

xenxander: As soon as you start the game.. it goes black screen, as if it's starting.. then you get:
Sacred gold has stopped working.

that's it.
One last question then I´ll stop asking, have you tried running it as admin?

golea: ... you don't know Spaceballs?
Barbarians! I'm surounded by barbarians!

Infin8ty: That sounds brutally painful. Now all I can think of is Anklenuts.... and people passing out on the floor in pain....

golea: Evil-me is waiting for Omerta to be next in line. I think we might experience something similar.
If next one is Omerta i'm taking a nap.

gscotti: Hah, thanks - 69 is a good number :D

Daz12380: i prefer 42
Hey, thanks again for you B-day present, and I will try to "pay it forward" again (not sure if the first time someone picked it up):

Diaz12380 was very kind and wanted to give me a gift for my B-day. However, apart from GOG I don't use any other online game store, and his gift was for Desura.

So I asked if it's OK if I just give it forward and he agreed. So here it is:

Survivor Squad
B6I8O-UYAD0-4JNT7-ADV31-17BGO

And if it's (also) your B-day, happy B-day!

gamingrn: Been watching college sports all day here and enjoying all of your commentary. Thought I'd pop in for a few moments and try to help you stay strong through this Hotline Miami streak. It's almost there, almost..
How 'bout that Georgia v. Auburn game... what a heart breaker!

UncleOvid: It's like Anklenuts, but with arms.

Anklenuts is FUCKING AWESOME. Accept no substitutes.

For first-timers, it's best to watch, though.

JohnnyDollar: xenxander, start a thread in the Sacred forum and I'll try to help you.
I've already messaged in other, existing threads about my issue.. but fine, I stared a new one.

No one will get it work for me. It just can't happen. I almost want a refund :(

sacred gold was a favorite game of mine.. now it's a paperweight as my computer won't run it.

skeletonbow: IMHO, it's really not worth waiting super long periods of time just to save a couple bucks at the current rates. Just about anyone that isn't an invalid etc. could get an extra shift at work, or so something in the same time period to make $5 or $10 or whatever a particular game they want is currently discounted and just buy it at the regular price for a lot less man hours of effort. ;o)

I endured the first day on and off, and the first hour or so of the 2nd, and only poked in here to chit chat after and have a casual non-shopping gander after picking up 3 sale games, but while it was interesting to a degree and "different", I'm going to probably pan on future sales of this style as they're potentially far too time consuming for the dollar savings in retrospect IMHO.
I respectfully disagree. I use Paypal for Gog, which I hate (make some Gog gift cards, guys! or at least support pre-paid visas...). I only keep a few bucks in there at a time, since I only use it for one thing, and rarely. It takes at least three business days to transfer funds into my account, which especially sucks for deals that activate and end in the same weekend.

This has been a pretty interesting experience; it was enough to get me to finally post in the forum, and I love how people have been picking on the slow movers (poor Jack Keane...). As for the sale being time consuming: given the amount of Gog games on my backlog (HoMM3; Ultima 7; The Cat Lady; Alan Wake; Betrayal at Krondor; The Blackwell Bundle; I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream) I'll be set for a long while. Krondor, Ultima, and Heroes of M&Ms alone could take me a year, at least. And once I have Resonance, HoMM3, and Theme Hospital in my possession, I'll consider my Gog collection complete, seeing as I've already played every other game (that interests me) available.

Uzur9: For those that have played Sacred 2 how is it compared to the first ?
Both are great examples of their genre.
Sacred 1 is isometric.
Sacred 2 has more modern graphics; third-person to isometric.
Both have lots of mobs and loot and stats and huge worlds.
Great hack&slash games imo.

Uzur9: For those that have played Sacred 2 how is it compared to the first ?
Both are pretty damn good ARPG's, if you ask me.

Sacred 2: Gold is in 3D, while S1: Gold is not.
Plus - I prefer the map, UI improvements, graphics, and a lot of others things from Sacred 2: Gold over the original Sacred 1: Gold.

Also, Sacred 2 runs at better resolutions, flat-out technically much better & more consistently normally - meanwhile S1's framerate at times can get choppy at times, no matter what. Especially if there's a lot on screen and if you're way zoomed-out.

Sacred 2: Gold has been much smoother, since most recent official patch and the last unofficial patch.

I'm too tired for a Hitchhiker's joke right now, so assume I made a cracking good one.
